In High School Girls Wrestling today, there are two North Posey and two Mt. Vernon wrestlers competing in the State Finals. The two from North Posey are…Kenna Kleinschmidt at 110 pounds and Ady Gamblin at 125 pounds. From Mt. Vernon Girls Wrestling the pair of wrestlers are…Maddy McCarty at 140 pounds and Ambryn Siddons at 145 pounds. The State Finals begin this morning at the Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The University of Southern Indiana Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program has something in store for expectant mothers. The university says they will be offering non-diagnostic ultrasounds to women in their second or third trimester on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons through April 28th, 2026. According to USI, students will be practicing assigned images under the direction of experienced faculty members. To schedule an appointment, email usi1dms@usi.edu.
Last night in local college sports, USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball had a conference game at Tennessee Tech. In the first game of the evening, USI Women’s Basketball won in overtime 71-69. Ali Saunders led the Screaming Eagles as she played all 45 minutes and scored 23 points. Saunders also had 8 assists and 7 rebounds. The USI Women’s team has won three-straight games and are 12-4 on the year and 6-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
In the second game of the night, USI Men’s Basketball ended an eight-game losing streak and got their first conference win of the season. They beat Tennessee Tech 71-54. USI ended the game on a 21-4 run after it was tied 50-50. Ismail Habib scored 21 points and Cardell Bailey added 17 points. The Screaming Eagles improve to 4-13 and 1-6 in the OVC.
USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball play again tomorrow afternoon at Tennessee State.
Tonight, in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball has a game at Southridge. The JV starts at 5:00 PM and the Varsity contest is at 6:30 PM. Evansville Women’s Basketball is home this evening as they play Illinois Chicago on campus at 6:00 PM. The Purple Aces are 4-12 on the year and 2-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
From the NBA tonight, the Indiana Pacers play the final game of their four-game homestand vs the New Orleans Pelicans at 6:00 PM. The Pacers have a record of 9-32.
