Coming up tomorrow at Harmonie State Park there is a Back to School Bash from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There will be games with prizes, a foam machine, free food, free goodie bags, music by DJ Joe, sprinklers, inflatables, sensory activities, and nature tattoos. Gate fees do apply, but an annual pass will be accepted. The event is just south of the gatehouse.
The Town of Poseyville posted on Facebook that the Posey County Solid Waste Recycling will reopen tomorrow from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There are small piles of mulch available at the yard and residents are welcome to come and take some while supplies last. Their new operating hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s.
This Sunday, the American Legion Post 278 Military Appreciation Picnic is at the Poseyville Community Center. Doors open at 4:00 PM and Dinner will be served at 5:00 PM. There will be a buffet picnic with Fried Chicken, Barbeque Pulled Pork, Cheesy Potato Casserole, Corn, Barbeque Baked Beans, Slaw, and Fried Biscuits. This is open to members and families of the American Legion, Auxiliary, Son’s of the American Legion, and all Prospective Members. North Posey Football is having a Free Youth Football Camp next Monday through Wednesday at Joe Gengelbach Field from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM each night. The camp is for incoming K-8 grade students. You can visit the North Posey Football Facebook page for the link to register. All participants must sign up to get their free T-shirt and sign a waiver.
Ellis Park in Henderson is inviting the tri-state area to be a part of their upcoming “Family Fun Day” tomorrow. Organizers say the event will feature a costume contest, games, prizes, cotton candy, photo ops, and Tug-of-War. The first 50 guests will also receive a free T-Shirt. General admission is free and the whole family is invited to attend. Again, the “Family Fun Day” will take place tomorrow with a first race post time set for 11:50 AM.
In Major League Baseball from Thursday…the St. Louis Cardinals avoided a 3rd-straight loss and started their 4-game series at home vs the San Diego Padres with a win, 9-7. The Cardinals improve to 53-51. Game two of the series is tonight in St. Louis at 6:15 PM.
The Chicago Cubs had yesterday off and return to action this evening at the Chicago White Sox for the first of 3-games at 6:40 PM. The Cubs are 60-42 overall.
The Cincinnati Reds did not play on Thursday either and start a 3-game set at home with the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:10 PM. The Reds have a record of 53-50.
