Poseyville is earning statewide recognition for innovation in clean water. The Town of Poseyville and Midwestern Engineers have received a 2025 Engineering Excellence Merit Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies. The honor comes after the successful upgrade of the town’s water treatment plant. The project features Indiana’s first municipal low-waste ion exchange nitrate treatment system — a major step in addressing high nitrate levels in groundwater, often a concern in farming areas. The system went online in July of 2024 and now provides safe, reliable drinking water well within regulatory standards. Officials say the award reflects both the cutting-edge technology and the strong partnership between the town and Midwestern Engineers, with an approach that could serve as a model for other small communities.
