Tonight, North Posey Football plays their second-round game in the Class 2A Sectional 39. The Vikings are on the road at Sullivan for a 7:00 PM kickoff. Both teams have a record of 7-3. Other second-round games throughout the tri-state include, in Class 5A Sectional 16…North travels to New Albany and Castle is at home against Floyd Central. Class 4A Sectional 24 features…Reitz at Heritage Hills and Harrison is on the road at Jasper. In the Class 3A Sectional 32…Gibson Southern welcomes Memorial and Mater Dei plays host to Southridge. Class 1A Sectional 48 features Tecumseh at North Daviess.
The first building to be built at USI in 1969 is getting a makeover. On Monday, The University of Southern Indiana will break ground on a renovation and expansion of the Wright Administration Building. Officials say it will be a transformative project that will reshape the building. Constructed under the leadership of Dr. David L. Rice, USI’s founding President, the Wright Administration Building was completed just two years prior to a Campus Master Plan that laid out the vision for today’s campus.
Yesterday in local college sports…USI Women’s Soccer won their First Round OVC Tournament match as they defeated Southeast Missouri State, 2-0. The Screaming Eagles are the #5 Seed in the tournament. It was their first ever OVC Tournament victory in program history. USI Women’s Soccer improves to 8-7-4 overall and they play again in the Quarterfinal Round of the OVC Tournament on Sunday at 11:30 AM vs #4 Seed Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Illinois.
Evansville Women’s Soccer lost at home to Valparaiso 3-0 in their regular season finale on Thursday. The Purple Aces could have clinched a spot in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with a win, but with the combination of the UE loss and Illinois Chicago victory, the Purple Aces season is over. Evansville Women’s Soccer finishes with a 7-7-2 overall record and a 3-5-1 mark in MVC play.
Tonight, Evansville Men’s Soccer plays their final home match of the regular season as they take on Northern Illinois at 6:00 PM. With two matches left in the season, the Purple Aces are 5-3-8 on the season and 2-0-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Evansville is in a 3-way tie for first place with Northern Illinois and Drake.
Evansville Volleyball is also home this evening as they battle Illinois Chicago at 6:00 PM. The Purple Aces are looking to end a 3-match losing streak. UE Volleyball is 6-16 and 2-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
In the NBA this evening…the Indiana Pacers begin a 4-game homestand as they face the Atlanta Hawks at 6:00 PM in downtown Indianapolis. The Pacers are still searching for their first win as they are 0-4 on the season.
Tonight is Game 6 of the Major League Baseball World Series as the scene shifts back to Toronto. The Blue Jays lead the Los Angeles Dodgers in the best-of-seven series, 3-2. First pitch is at 7:00 PM as Toronto looks to close the series out and become World Series Champions for the first time since 1993.
