The Powerball jackpot is climbing again, now estimated at one-point-six billion dollars after no one claimed the top prize in Saturday night’s drawing. The next chance to win comes tonight, and if someone hits it, this jackpot will rank as the fourth largest in Powerball history and the fifth largest lottery jackpot ever in the United States. This evening’s drawing will be the 46th in this jackpot run. Powerball officials say this also marks just the second time the game has seen back-to-back jackpots topping one billion dollars. While no one won the grand prize on Saturday, there were still plenty of winners. Tickets sold in California, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Ohio matched all five white balls to win one million dollars each. More than one hundred tickets nationwide won fifty-thousand dollars, and another twenty-two tickets picked up one-hundred-fifty-thousand-dollar prizes. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot remain long, about one in two hundred ninety-two million, but smaller prizes start at just four dollars. Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night at 10:59 Eastern.
