The Indiana Department of Transportation has a planned road closure starting today in the Wadesville area. It is a closure of State Road 66 between Nash Woods and Land Road. The closure is taking place to allow for multiple pipe replacements to take place along the roadway. The project is expected to take two weeks to complete and that is dependent upon the weather during the project. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.

 

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced a ramp closure for U.S. 41 in Vanderburgh County. Starting today, the northbound U.S. 41 ramp to westbound State Road 62 in Evansville will be closed for reconstruction. The closure is expected to last two weeks, weather permitting. The official detour directs drivers to take U.S. 41 northbound to State Road 66, then proceed to U.S. 41 southbound. This closure is part of a larger project to reconstruct U.S. 41 in Evansville, with completion targeted for early September.

 

Tonight is another Mt. Vernon Riverfront Market Night from 4:30 PM until 7:30 PM. There will be food trucks and live music from Lindsey Williams.

 

The Posey County Solid Waste District announced that the yard waste and debris drop off site on water tank road will be closed through the month of July for cleanup. Once the clean-up is completed, the site will reopen with supervision on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

The office of the Posey County Community Corrections is looking to hire a field officer. Applications are now being accepted for the position. The office will work with clients who have been sentenced to home detention, work release, alcohol monitoring and pretrial electronics monitoring. You must be 21 or older with no felony convictions and possess a valid driver’s license. This is a grant funded position. From Major League Baseball on Sunday…the St. Louis Cardinals lost the rubber game of a 3-game set in Chicago vs the Cubs, 11-0. The Cardinals drop to 48-43 on the season and the Cubs improve to 54-36 on the year. St. Louis is off today before starting a 3-game series with the Washington Nationals at home on Tuesday night and Chicago is also off today before traveling to Minnesota to play the Twins on Tuesday evening.

The Cincinnati Reds lost the finale in Philadelphia to the Phillies, 3-1. The Reds are now 46-44 overall. They return home tonight to battle the Miami Marlins in the opening game of a 4-game series at 6:10 PM.

A former tri-state standout athlete made his Major League Baseball debut this past Friday for the Chicago White Sox. Colson Montgomery, who is from Holland, Indiana and graduated from Southridge High School in 2021 got the call up to the big leagues on Friday. Montgomery is a shortstop and played all 3 games for the White Sox in a series this past weekend in Colorado vs the Rockies. He went 5-for-10 with 2 walks and 2 RBI in the 3-game set. Montgomery is 23 years old and was selected in the first round with the 22nd pick by the White Sox in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.
