The University of Southern Indiana has their next Baseball head coach. On Sunday, USI announced the hiring of Chris Ramirez to be the 6th head coach in the history of the 54-year-old baseball program. Ramirez makes his way to the Screaming Eagles after spending 5 years at Division 2 Lenoir-Rhyne University where he led that program to their most successful 5 seasons in program history, going 152-80. They reached the NCAA postseason in 2022. Before his stop there, Ramirez was the head coach at Division 2 Illinois Springfield. Ramirez also served as a Division I assistant coach for six seasons at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi before taking the top spots at Illinois Springfield and Lenior-Rhyne. Ramirez takes over a USI baseball program which was 27-32 overall and 14-13 in Ohio Valley Conference a season ago. Ramirez becomes the head man at USI after longtime head coach Tracy Archuleta moved on to be the head coach at Indiana State earlier this summer.
