The NBA Finals are now even at a game apiece as the Oklahoma City Thunder bounced back on their home court and beat the Indiana Pacers last night in Game 2, 123-107. Tyrese Haliburton scored 17 points and Myles Turner had 16 points for the Pacers. The NBA Finals now moves to Indianapolis for Game 3 on Wednesday night.

 

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that many people in the area have received phone calls about an arrest warrant. They that the caller identifies themselves as “Sergeant Allen Middleton.” The Sheriff’s Office says this is not a real call and that they are trying to blatantly misinform citizens for monetary gain. The Sheriff’s Office number is 812-838-1321, so if this is not the number provided, don’t adhere to the call.

 

Tonight, there is another Mt. Vernon Market Night. Just a reminder for drivers that Water Street between Main Street and Mulberry Street will be closed this evening for the Market Night from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM.

 

This past Saturday was the IHSAA Baseball Regionals and there were several tri-state teams involved. In Class 4A…Evansville North beat Seymour, 6-4 at Bosse Field. It’s the Huskies first Regional Championship since 2005. In Class 3A…Jasper shutout Evansville Central, 6-0 at Jasper High School. It Jasper’s 27th Regional Championship, which is the most in the state of Indiana. Class 2A saw Mater Dei defeat Barr-Reeve, 2-1 in 8 innings at Bosse Field. It’s Mater Dei’s first Regional Championship since 2014. Finishing up with Class 1A…Vincennes Rivet lost to Shakamak, 4-3 at League Stadium. Northeast Dubois run-ruled West Washington, 10-0 in 6 innings at Floyd Central High School for the Jeeps first Regional Championship since 2007.

This Saturday will be the two-game Semi-State. In Class 4A…Evansville North will play North Central at 10:00 AM at Mooresville High School. In Class 3A…Jasper will take on Greensburg at 1:00 PM at Jasper High School. For Class 2A…Evansville Mater Dei will face Shenandoah at 1:00 PM at the University of Evansville. For Class 1A…Northeast Dubois will face Shakamak at 12:00 PM at Mitchell High School.

 

In High School Softball, there were two tri-state teams that played in the Semi-State. Evansville Memorial got beat in the Class 3A Semi-State Championship game by Indianapolis Cathedral, 4-2.

Tecumseh cruised past Salem 16-0 in 5 innings in the Class 2A Semi-State Championship game. Tecumseh will play in the State Finals for a 4th-straight season. They will play Andrean on Saturday at 3:30 PM at Purdue University.

 

From Major League Baseball on Sunday…the St. Louis Cardinals could not complete the 3-game sweep at home vs the Los Angeles Dodgers as LA won, 7-3. The Cardinals are now 36-29 overall and will start a 3-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight at 6:45 PM.

The Chicago Cubs lost their rubber game of a 3-game set at the Detroit Tigers, 4-0. Chicago sits at 40-25 on the year. The Cubs head to Philadelphia this evening to begin a 3-game set against the Phillies at 5:45 PM.

The Cincinnati Reds were able to pull out a 4-2 win at home and finish off a 3-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Reds improve to .500 at 33-33. Cincinnati heads to Cleveland tonight for the opening game of a 3-game series with the Guardians at 5:40 PM.
