A 23-year-old Evansville man is headed to prison after a dangerous late-night chase in Posey County. Prosecutors say Zachery Lee Ricketts has been sentenced to four years behind bars following convictions for resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, and violating the terms of his felony probation. Authorities say the incident happened late December 4th, when deputies attempted to stop Ricketts for an expired license plate. Instead of pulling over, investigators say he sped off along State Road 62 with his headlights turned off, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour construction zone. Deputies also report that Ricketts drove into oncoming traffic, nearly causing multiple head-on crashes. The pursuit was eventually called off for safety reasons. Ricketts was later arrested on a warrant. He will now be transferred to the Indiana Department of Correction to serve his sentence.

Authorities say drivers in the area should expect to see an increased presence of emergency vehicles as crews work at the scene. No injuries have been reported and there is no word on what may have caused the fire.
