Tomorrow, the Posey County Health Department is providing another Free Community Clinic. These take place every first and third Tuesday of each month from 1:00-5:00 PM. The location of this clinic is at the MSD of North Posey’s Ascension Tristate Clinic at 4922 HWY 165 in Poseyville. Services offered include immunizations, vital sign checks, glucose monitoring, they provide lice treatment kits, pregnancy resources, and various other testing like lead and STD testing.

 

Posey County Health Department also says that tomorrow there will be a Mobile Food Distribution event at the North Posey Youth Community Park. It will take place from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Drivers should turn off Pine Street and onto Jerry Wilder Way. There is a limit of two households per car. The event is sponsored by Tri-State Food Bank and the Lilly Endowment.

 

Mt. Vernon High School is having a Movie Night this Friday from 6:45 PM-9:00 PM. For entry into the Movie Night, they are asking for a donation of hygiene products benefiting Family Matters of Posey County. The Movie Night this Friday will be held at the Mt. Vernon High School Football Field.

 

On Sunday, the IHSAA released the sectional brackets for both baseball and softball. Starting with baseball in Class 3A Sectional 32 at Braun Stadium, Mt. Vernon drew Memorial in the first round. In Class 2A Sectional 48 at Tell City, North Posey will take on Pike Central in round one. Dates and times will be announced later.

In softball, the Class 3A Sectional 32 will be hosted at Mt. Vernon and the Wildcats will take on Heritage Hills in their first-round contest. North Posey is also in that sectional, and they received a first-round bye. The Vikings will play the winner of Boonville and Bosse. Dates and times will be announced late.

 

Coming up this evening in local high school sports…North Posey Softball is home and will play North at 5:00 PM. Vikings Softball is 10-4 on the year.

 

In the NBA Playoffs on Sunday…the Indiana Pacers won Game 1 of their Second Round Series at the Cleveland Cavaliers, 121-112. Andrew Nembhard led Indiana with 23 points and Tyrese Haliburton had 22 points and 13 assists. The Pacers lead the best-of-seven series, 1-0. Game 2 is in Cleveland tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.

 

From Major League Baseball yesterday…the St. Louis Cardinals won both games of their doubleheader at home against the New York Mets, 6-5 and 5-4. The Cardinals improve to 16-19 on the season. They are still at home tonight as they begin a 3-game series vs the Pittsburgh Pirates at 6:45 PM.

The Chicago Cubs failed to complete the 3-game sweep in Milwaukee as they got shutout by the Brewers, 4-0. Chicago now has a record of 21-14. The Cubs return home to square off against the San Francisco Giants in a 3-game set this evening at 6:40 PM.

The Cincinnati Reds lost at home to the Washington Nationals, 4-1. The Reds slide to 18-17 overall. They head to Atlanta for the first of four with the Braves tonight at 6:15 PM.
