The University of Southern Indiana is calling on the campus and the broader tri-state community to help support Archie’s Closet this holiday season. USI Public Safety is leading a “Stuff the Cruiser” drive to collect non-perishable food items for Archie’s Food Closet, which provides support to students and employees in need. A Public Safety cruiser will be parked outside Liberty Arena during two upcoming basketball games, this afternoon at 3:00 PM, and again on Saturday, November 29th. Anyone wishing to donate can give items directly to Public Safety staff at the cruiser or drop them off at the Public Safety Office on the first floor of the Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center. High-priority donations include macaroni and cheese, pasta and pasta sauce, crackers, granola bars, canned tuna and chicken, Pop-Tarts, and other snack-type foods. The pantry is a partnership between the Dean of Students Office, Disability Resources, and the Staff Council.
The University of Evansville marked major progress in mental health education and services during its “Be The Light” celebration on Friday. University officials, donors, and community partners gathered on campus to highlight recent advancements, made possible through significant philanthropic support. At the event, UE announced a new statewide partnership with the Indiana University School of Medicine and Riley Children’s Health. The collaboration aims to expand mental health training and care across Indiana. It includes the launch of a Psychology Practicum at Riley Children’s Health and the IU School of Medicine, along with a new Annual Psychology Symposium. University leaders say the partnership will give Doctor of Psychology students at UE critical hands-on clinical experience at a time when demand for mental health professionals continues to grow. During the ceremony, UE also revealed the renaming of its Doctor of Psychology program and the rededication of the university’s mental health clinic—both honoring some of the institution’s most generous donors.
