On Friday, North Posey Football had their season come to an end as they lost at Sullivan 53-7 in the second round of the Class 2A Sectional 39. Vikings Quarterback, Carter Schickel completed 21 passes for 242 yards and connected with Camden Clowers for North Posey’s lone touchdown. Brody Fehn had 8 catches for 110 yards. North Posey finishes with a 7-4 record.

Coming up this evening here on Posey County Radio is the final North Posey Football Coaches Show at 5:30 PM. You can listen on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. Jordan Fisher is the host of the show.

Tonight, there is also the final Mt. Vernon Football Coaches Show of the year. The Wildcats season ended a week ago in the first round of the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Southridge. They went 6-4 this year. Due to some scheduling conflicts last week, the last show of the season airs tonight at 5:30 PM on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Allen Buck is the host of the show.

 

Today, the University of Southern Indiana is breaking ground on the renovation and expansion of the Wright Administration Building. The building was the first building to be built at USI in 1969. Officials say it will be a transformative project that will reshape the building. Constructed under the leadership of Dr. David L. Rice, USI’s founding President, the Wright Administration Building was completed just two years prior to a Campus Master Plan that laid out the vision for today’s campus.

 

From local college sports over the weekend…USI Women’s Soccer beat Eastern Illinois, 3-0 in the Quarterfinal’s of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament yesterday. The Screaming Eagles are the #5 Seed in the tournament and advance to take on #1 Seed Tennessee Tech on Thursday in the Semifinal’s in Cookville, Tennessee. USI Women’s Soccer is 9-7-4 overall.

USI Men’s Soccer played their final match of the season on Sunday and lost at Houston Christian, 5-1. The Screaming Eagles end their year with a record of 2-10-5 and a 1-4-5 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Evansville Men’s Soccer picked up a 1-0 win at home against Northern Illinois on Friday to clinch at least a share of the Regular Season Missouri Valley Conference Title for the first time since 1991. The Purple Aces are 6-3-8 on the year and 3-0-3 in the conference. Their final match of the regular season is on Wednesday at Belmont at 6:00 PM.  

 

Today is the first day of the college basketball regular season. Locally, USI Women’s Basketball begins their season tonight at home with Franklin College at 6:00 PM.

USI Men’s Basketball plays their first contest on Wednesday at Butler at 6:00 PM.

Evansville Men’s Basketball takes on #1 Purdue up in West Lafayette tomorrow evening at 5:30 PM.

Evansville Women’s Basketball starts their year on Thursday at Southeast Missouri State at 11:00 AM.

 

Yesterday was Week 9 of the regular season in the NFL and the Indianapolis Colts had their 4-game winning streak come to an end with a 27-20 loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Colts Quarterback Daniel Jones was 31-for-50 passing for 342 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions. Jones also fumbled the ball twice. Indianapolis had 6 turnovers in the game as a team. The Colts are 7-2 and they play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Berlin, Germany.

The Chicago Bears won a crazy shootout in Cincinnati over the Bengals, 47-42. Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams finished 20-for-34 for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 58-yard touchdown pass to Colston Loveland with 17 seconds left gave Chicago the win. Bengals Quarterback Joe Flacco completed 31 of his 47 passes for 470 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. The Bears are 5-3 and they are at home on Sunday against the New York Giants. The Bengals are 3-6 and have this Sunday off.

In Nashville, the Tennessee Titans fell a bit short at home vs the Los Angeles Chargers, 27-20. The Titans slide to 1-8 and have a bye this week.

It was an upset in Green Bay as the Packers got tripped up by the Carolina Panthers, 16-13. Carolina hit a 49-yard field goal as time expired for the victory. The Packers are 5-2-1 on the year. They are at home vs the Philadelphia Eagles next week on Monday Night Football.

 

In the NBA this evening…the Indiana Pacers continue their 4-game homestand as they take on the Milwaukee Bucks at 6:00 PM. The Pacers are 1-5 on the season and are looking for back-to-back wins after taking down the Golden State Warriors at home on Saturday. Bucks Center Myles Turner plays against his former team for the first time, after spending his first 10 seasons with the Pacers.
