The first co-working space is opening in downtown Mount Vernon next week. Officials with the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership, or E-REP, say they will be hosting a grand opening of “Cowork Posey” at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 11th. The workspace is located at 231 Main Street. They say members will have access to Wi-Fi, printing and copying services and private meeting rooms. Cowork Posey will also be hosting “Free Cowork Fridays” to celebrate the launch. Those dates include August 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District says that this evening there is a Well Water Workshop from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Posey County Fairgrounds. This will be a chance to hear from speakers to learn about why you should be concerned about your well water and how to keep you and your family safe. The workshop will be held in the Community Center at the Posey County Fairgrounds.
The Children’s Learning Center of Posey County is encouraging the community to join them tomorrow night at 6:00 PM for a Pizza and Water Slide Party. They say this is to celebrate the last slice of summer. The event will take place at the Children’s Learning Center playground. There will be food and drinks provided, photo opportunities, and water fun.
Officials announced intermittent closures for the Lloyd Expressway at Burkhardt Road this week. They say various lanes will be shut down at the intersection for 15 to 20 minutes at a time as crews work on new signal wires. The closures are part of the Lloyd4U project. According to their official website, the work will begin after morning rush hour and before evening rush hour. Most of the work should be done Thursday and Friday but may go into early next week. They are advising drivers to plan for extra travel time when using the Lloyd Expressway.
In Major League Baseball from Wednesday…the St. Louis Cardinals earned a 5-3 win in Los Angeles over the Dodgers. The Cardinals won 2-of-3 in the series. Their record is 58-58 on the year. St. Louis has today off and returns home on Friday for a 3-game series vs the Chicago Cubs.
The Chicago Cubs were able to salvage a game in their 3-game set at home against the Cincinnati Reds, 6-1. The Cubs move to 66-48 and the Reds drop to 60-55. Chicago is off today, and Cincinnati starts a 4-game series in Pittsburgh with the Pirates at 5:40 PM.
Week 1 of the NFL Preseason begins tonight, and the Indianapolis Colts play at the Baltimore Ravens at 6:00 PM. The Cincinnati Bengals are also playing this evening at the Philadelphia Eagles at 6:30 PM.
