Last night in local high school sports…North Posey Girls Basketball won at Boonville, 59-49. The Vikings improve to 5-1 on the season. They play again this evening at South Spencer. The JV game starts at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game follows around 7:00 PM.

 

In local college sports from Wednesday night…Evansville Men’s Basketball defeated Ball State at home, 64-52. Connor Turnbull had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. The Purple Aces improve to 4-5 on the year and play at Western Kentucky on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

USI Men’s Basketball got beat at Western Michigan, 88-74. Cardell Bailey had 26 points, and Ismail Habib added 23 points in the loss. The Screaming Eagles have a record of 3-6 and they play at Indiana State on Sunday at noon.

In Minnesota last night…#22 Indiana Men’s Basketball began conference play with a 73-64 loss vs the Golden Gophers. Tayton Conerway scored 18 points in the loss. It’s the first loss of the season for the Hoosiers as they are now 7-1. IU plays #6 Louisville at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday at 1:15 PM.

Evansville Women’s Basketball was also in action as they lost at Purdue, 91-49. Camryn Runner was the lone UE player in double figures with 17 points. They fall to 2-6 on the season and play at Saint Louis on Sunday.

 

From the NBA on Wednesday evening…the Indiana Pacers lost at home to the Denver Nuggets, 135-120. Indiana was outscored 39-20 in the 2nd quarter. Pascal Siakam led the team in scoring again with 23 points. The Pacers are 4-18 overall. Their next game is on Friday at the Chicago Bulls at 7:00 PM.

 

Posey County Solid Waste District says there is a Tox-away Day this afternoon from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon Recycle Center on Lower New Harmony Road. They say after today, there will be a 2-month winter break for the hazardous waste disposal.

 

Christmas in New Harmony is coming up this weekend. It starts on Friday night at 5:30 PM with the Tree Lighting at the New Harmony Inn. On Saturday, you can have breakfast with Santa from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Holy Angels Catholic Center. It’s 5 dollars for adults and children are 4 dollars. Kids that are 4 years old and younger eat for free. There are numerous events throughout the day on Saturday, including vendors and shopping opportunities from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Food Trucks on Main Street will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM as well. At 6:00 PM on Saturday there is a Lighted Golf Cart Parade and a Wolfgang Jazz Holiday Concert at 7:00 PM. Events on Sunday start at 10:00 AM. The Christmas in New Harmony weekend ends with a Christmas Concert at 7:00 PM on Sunday at Thrall’s Opera House.
