The North Posey boys basketball team fell on the road last night at Evansville Day School. The Vikings held a 23–21 lead at halftime before the Eagles went on a 15–0 run and closed out the game with a 50–45 final. North Posey falls to 3–11 on the season and will be back in action tonight at home against the Pike Central Chargers. JV tips off at 5:30, with varsity to follow at 7:00. Coming up this Saturday, New Life Rescue and Adoption is hosting its annual Rescue Roundup Auction & Dinner at the Posey County Community Center. This event is for those 21 and over. Doors open at 5:00, with dinner served at 6:00. Dinner will be provided by Hawg-N-Sauce. While online ticket sales closed last night, tickets will still be available at the door on Saturday for $45. Only 50 tickets will be sold at the door. Again, that’s this Saturday as a fundraiser for New Life Rescue and Adoption.

The Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon wants to remind the public that families can still apply for free and reduced meals. They say if you or your family has experienced a change in financial situation, you are encouraged to apply. Applications can be picked up in person or completed online. In partnership with Family Matters, Purdue Extension Posey County, and Promoting a Drug Free Community in Posey County, the Indiana Youth Institute is presenting an in-person Youth Worker Café on February 11 at 11:00 at the CountryMark Pavilion in Mount Vernon. The featured presentation is called “Safeguarding Youth in the Age of AI, VR, and AR”—that’s artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality. Also coming up this Saturday at Harmonie State Park is the Birds and Beans event. The Birds portion, Falconry Frenzy, runs from 12:30 until 2:00 and gives you a chance to meet the birds and their handlers. The Beans portion is a chili cook-off, with tasting from 2:00 until 4:00. Taking a look at high school sports for tonight, swimming and diving sectionals get underway at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville. Events begin at 5:30 for both Mount Vernon and North Posey swimmers.

North Posey hosts Pike Central in boys basketball tonight, with JV at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00. The Mount Vernon Wildcats boys team travels to Princeton, with JV set for 6:00 and varsity to follow at 7:30. You can hear that game tonight on 106.7 WMVI and MountVernonRadio.com. Mount Vernon comes in at 11–5 on the season, while Princeton is 13–3. Princeton currently ranks first in the Pocket Athletic Conference, with Mount Vernon sitting fourth.
