Tomorrow through Sunday is the 35th Annual Keck-Gonnerman Antique Machinery and Car Show at the Posey County Fairgrounds. Admission is free and there will be food vendors, a flea market, and numerous activities and events. The 2025 features are Keck-Gonnerman Tractors, Steam Engines, and Separators. With school starting next week, there are backpacks that are available for students in need. The Town of Poseyville has received a generous donation of backpacks from Family Matters of Posey County. If your child is still in need of school supplies, you can contact the Town Hall at 812-874-2211 (Option 1) to check availability. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced a road closure for State Road 66 in Posey County. Officials say beginning on or around Monday August 4th, crews will close State Road 66 near Parkers Settlement. This closure will occur between Juanita Drive in Blairsville and State Road 65. This closure will allow for multiple pipe replacement projects along the roadway. Work is anticipated to take a week to complete, depending on the weather. INDOT says the official detour for this project is State Road 65 to State Road 68 to State Road 165. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert in work zones.

 

Coming up next Tuesday, August 5th is the 2025 National Sheriff Night Out Of Posey County in the Cynthiana Town Park from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. All of Posey County and the surrounding community is invited. This is a chance to come out and show the Posey County Sheriff’s Department how much you appreciate them and thank them for their service to the community. There will be burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and fresh Watermelon. Both Crane Credit Union and First Bank will be there once again with their tables and games. Kids are encouraged to bring their swimsuits as there will be a water slide. Adults are encouraged to bring their own chairs.

 

Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District says that on Thursday, August 7th there is a Well Water Workshop from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Posey County Fairgrounds. This will be a chance to hear from speakers to learn about why you should be concerned about your well water and how to keep you and your family safe. The workshop will be held in the Community Center at the Posey County Fairgrounds.

 

In Major League Baseball from Wednesday…the St. Louis Cardinals got shutout for a second-straight game at home as they lost the series finale with the Miami Marlins, 2-0. The Cardinals lost 2-of-3 in the series as they are now .500 on the on the year at 55-55. St. Louis has today off and will head out west to play the San Diego Padres tomorrow night.

The Chicago Cubs were able to avoid a 3-game sweep in Milwaukee as they beat the Brewers, 10-3. Chicago’s record improves to 63-45 and they are now only one game behind Milwaukee for first place in the National League Central. The Cubs have today off and return home tomorrow to face the Baltimore Orioles.

The Cincinnati Reds salvaged a game in their 3-game series at home against Los Angeles as they defeated the Dodgers, 5-2. The Reds record climbs to 57-52 and they start a 3-game set vs the Atlanta Braves at home this evening at 6:10 PM.
