Last night in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Indiana Pacers were victorious over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Indianapolis, 116-107. Three different Pacers scored 20+ points, as Bennedict Mathurin led them in scoring off the bench with 27 points. Tyrese Haliburton was a rebound shy of a triple double as he finished with 22 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds. Pascal Siakam also collected 21 points. The Pacers lead the best-of-seven NBA Finals, 2-1. Indiana will be home again in Game 4 tomorrow evening at 7:30 PM.
Coming up this weekend in New Harmony is the 23rd Annual New Harmony Antique Show. It will take place on Saturday and Sunday and there will be antique vendors, live music, and local markets. The community is encouraged to explore the historic streets, enjoy great food and shopping, and soak up the summer vibes this Saturday and Sunday.
Posey County Council on Aging is inviting the community to a presentation about financial scams tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM. United Fidelity’s Tammy Harrington will present information on types of scams that are around these days and how to spot and avoid them. It is free to attend. The location is 611 West 8th Street in Mt. Vernon. If you have any questions, you can call 812-838-4656.
Next Wednesday, June 18th there will be a community reception in Mt. Vernon at United Fidelity Bank to meet the new Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball Coaches. This will be a chance to meet Head Coach Doug Novsek and Assistant Coach Robin Duncan. The reception will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM next Wednesday.
Posey County Royalty Pageants posted on Facebook that registration is now open for the Beautiful Baby contest. It will be open through Wednesday, July 2nd. The Beautiful Baby contest is open to Posey County children that are newborn through 36 months. There is a link to register on the Posey County Royalty Pageants Facebook page.
From Major League Baseball on Wednesday…the St. Louis Cardinals got swept at home by the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-2. The Cardinals have now lost 4-straight games and went just 3-6 on their 9-game homestand. St. Louis sits at 36-32 overall. They begin a 4-game series in Milwaukee tonight at 6:40 PM.
The Chicago Cubs lost the rubber game of a 3-game set in Philadelphia to the Phillies, 7-2. With the loss, the Cubs record sinks to 41-27. Chicago returns home this evening to start a 4-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Cincinnati Reds had their 5-game winning streak terminated as the Guardians blasted the Reds in Cleveland, 11-2. Cincinnati is now 35-34 and will have today off before playing a 3-game series at the Detroit Tigers tomorrow night.
