Last night in local high school sports…North Posey Baseball won their first postseason game in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Tell City. The Vikings beat Pike Central, 17-3. They will play again tomorrow night at 5:00 PM against Forest Park.
Mt. Vernon Baseball had their season come to an end on Wednesday as they lost to Memorial in the first round of the Class 3A Sectional 32 at the University of Evansville, 10-0 in 5 innings. The Wildcats finish with an 8-15 record.
North Posey Softball is heading to the Class 3A Sectional 32 Championship game after shutting out Boonville, 2-0 last night. The Vikings will battle Memorial for the championship today at 3:00 PM at the University of Evansville. You will be able to hear the game on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.
Posey County Health Department says there will be free vision and hearing screenings for virtual and homeschooled students on Tuesday, June 3rd from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM at the North Posey Wellness Clinic. That is located at 4922 Hwy 165 in Poseyville. Students in grades 1 through 10 are eligible for routine vision and hearing screenings at no cost.
Posey County Royalty Pageants says the deadline to register for the 2025 Princess, Duchess, Miss Teen Posey County, and Miss Posey County pageants is quickly approaching. You have until this Saturday, May 31st to register. If you have any questions, you can email pocoroyaltypageants@gmail.com.
Tonight, in the NBA Playoffs…the Indiana Pacers look to close out their Eastern Conference Finals Series in New York with the Knicks at 7:00 PM. The Pacers lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1 and are one win away from clinching their spot in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2000. The Oklahoma City Thunder earned their spot in the NBA Finals after eliminating the Minnesota Timberwolves in 5 games in the Western Conference Finals.
From Major League Baseball on Wednesday…the St. Louis Cardinals won the rubber game of their 3-game series in Baltimore with the Orioles, 6-4. The Cardinals improve to 32-24 and will have today off. St. Louis begins a 3-game set in Texas against the Rangers tomorrow night.
The Chicago Cubs swept the Colorado Rockies, 2-1 in Chicago. The Cubs are 35-21 on the year. They are off today and will start a 3-game series at home with the Cincinnati Reds on Friday afternoon.
The Cincinnati Reds could not complete the 3-game sweep in Kansas City as the Royals beat the Reds, 3-2. Cincinnati fall to a game below .500 at 28-29.
