An Illinois woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison for dealing methamphetamine in Posey County. Kelli Jo Hale, 37, appeared in the Posey County Circuit Court yesterday and was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to a Level 2 Felony of Dealing in Methamphetamine. Hale admitted to possessing more than 10 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver. Court records revealed that Hale was pulled over by Mt. Vernon Police on March 10th, 2025, for not using a turn signal. During the stop, officers noticed her slurred speech and poor manual dexterity. Officers found a smoking pipe on Hale and more than 35 grams of methamphetamine under the driver's seat of her vehicle. Hale has been in jail on bond since her arrest and will be transported to the Indiana Department of Correction to serve her sentence.

 

Tonight, at the Posey County Community Center at the fairgrounds there is a basket bingo benefiting Gateway for Cancer Research. Doors will open at 5:00 PM with bingo starting at 6:00 PM. Organizers say that they have over 170 door prizes plus 14 large raffles. You can get your tickets before attending by contacting the United Way office, or they are also available at the Cozy Cottage in Mount Vernon.

 


The Posey County Council on Aging is once again asking for the public's help to assemble Christmas bags for 60 senior citizens in the area. Items that they need help gathering include blankets, body washes, conditioner and deodorant, games, gloves, hats and house slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste and other items. They have begun collecting donations and you can drop off any items that you would like to donate at 611 West 8th Street in Mount Vernon. The last day for donations is December 12th.

 


As a reminder, CenterPoint Energy's series of community meetings will begin this week. The local meetings will begin this Saturday in Evansville at Vanderburgh County 4H center. That meeting is set for 9:00 AM until Noon. The local Posey County meeting will be on Wednesday, November 12th at Mount Vernon Junior High from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Officials say customers will be able learn about financial assistance programs and resources as well as actions taken to prioritize customer affordability.

 

North Posey Girls Basketball gets their season underway this evening as they are at home taking on Castle. JV plays at 5:30 PM and the Varsity plays at 7:00 PM.

 

Last night in local college basketball, USI Men’s Basketball lost their season opening game at Butler, 88-58. USI fell behind 17-0 to start the game. Kaden Brown led the Screaming Eagles in scoring with 17 points. USI’s next game is on Friday at home as they take on Virginia Military Institute at 7:30 PM.

Up in Bloomington, Indiana Men’s Basketball crushed Alabama A&M in their first game of the season, 98-51. Reed Bailey scored 21 points for IU and Tucker Devries had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Hoosiers play at Marquette on Sunday.

In other local college sports from Wednesday night, USI Volleyball had their 5-match winning streak come to an end with a 4-set loss at Tennessee Tech. The Screaming Eagles are 12-12 on the season and 8-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Evansville Men’s Soccer lost their final match of the regular season at Belmont, 2-1. The Purple Aces are 6-4-8 overall and 3-1-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They earned a share of the MVC Regular Season Title. UE is the #1 seed in the upcoming MVC Tournament.

Tonight, USI Women’s Soccer plays in the Semifinal Round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament against the #1 Seed Tennessee Tech at 4:00 PM in Cookeville, Tennessee. The Screaming Eagles are the #5 Seed and won their first two matches in the tournament. The winner of today’s match advances to the OVC Tournament Championship Match on Sunday.

 

In the NBA last night, the Indiana Pacers concluded their 4-game homestand with a 112-103 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Pascal Siakam scored 23 points for Indiana. The Pacers have a 1-7 record and begin a 4-game road trip on Saturday in Denver vs the Nuggets.
