Yesterday, ticket sales got underway for the 2025 Nut Club Half-Pot ahead of this year's Fall Festival. This year, ticket sales will run through October 11th. From now through October 5th, you can buy tickets in person at the Mead Johnson Parking Lot, located at the corner of the Lloyd Expressway and St. Joseph Avenue. From October 5th through October 11th, you can find Half-Pot Ticket Booths along Franklin Street during the Fall Festival. New this year, Half-Pot tickets will be available for purchase online. A special early-bird prize will also be available for those who buy tickets before October 7th. Each year, the total pot has surpassed the previous record. In 2024, the pot was just over $2 million. MSD of North Posey posted on Facebook that a public hearing for the collective bargaining negotiations process will be held this coming Monday, October 6th at 3:00 PM in the district conference room. Public testimony regarding teacher compensation is welcome. Electronic participation will also be available through the MSD of North Posey County YouTube live stream, and the chat feature will be enabled during the meeting.

 

Expectant mothers can now get a non-diagnostic ultrasound at the University of Southern Indiana. The university’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is offering it to women in their second or third trimester (18-34 weeks pregnant). Organizers say students will be practicing assigned images under the direction of experienced faculty members on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons through December 4th. There is a new gym that is now open on the west side of Evansville. Planet Fitness West is located on Rosenberger Avenue just off the Lloyd Expressway. It’s in the building where the old Office Depot used to be located. The gym is open and staffed 24/7. It’s the third Planet Fitness location in Evansville, joining one on First Avenue and South Green River Road.

 

Last night in local high school sports…North Posey Boys Tennis won their First Round Sectional match vs Reitz, 4-1. The Vikings advance to the Sectional Semi-Finals to play Mater Dei today at 4:30 PM. Mt. Vernon takes on Central as well today at 4:30 PM. Both matches are at Mt. Vernon High School. The Sectional Championship is on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM.

North Posey Volleyball picked up another victory at home against Boonville in straight sets as the Vikings improve to 17-4 on the year.

Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer lost to Washington at home, 3-1. The Wildcats record is 2-14.

 

Tonight, in local high school sports…North Posey Volleyball travels to Forest Park for a 5:30 PM JV match and a 7:00 PM Varsity match.

Mt. Vernon Volleyball is at home vs Mater Dei. The JV match starts at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match begins at 7:00 PM.

North Posey Boys Soccer journeys to Mt. Vernon at 7:00 PM.

 

From the Major League Baseball Playoffs yesterday…the Chicago Cubs fell in Game 2 of their best-of-3 Wild Card Series at home with the San Diego Padres, 3-0. The series is now tied at a game apiece. The decisive Game 3 of the series is today at 4:08 PM in Chicago and the winner moves on to the National League Division Series to square off with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cincinnati Reds season came to an end last night with an 8-4 loss at the Los Angeles Dodgers as LA won the first two games of the best-of-3 Wild Card Series to advance to the National League Division Series vs the Philadelphia Phillies.
