A big traffic alert update on the west side of Evansville. All eastbound traffic has now been moved over into the westbound lanes. There is one lane heading in each direction on the westbound side of the Lloyd. This new traffic pattern runs from Red Bank Road to Posey County Line Road. There’s new signage in the area warning drivers of the new lanes. Drivers heading south toward the Lloyd on McDowell Road and County Line Road need to pay attention. You will need to stop at all stop signs and look in both directions since both lanes of traffic are now on that westbound side.
This weekend is the Poseyville Autumnfest presented by the Kiwanis Club of Poseyville. It begins Friday evening at 5:00 PM when the food vendors open. The Beer Garden opens at 6:00 PM Friday as well and shuts down at 11:30 PM. Then on Saturday, the day begins with the Pancake Breakfast at the Community Center at 6:00 AM. From 7:00-7:45 AM is the check-in window for the Poseyville Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk. The Kid’s Dash is at 8:15 AM and the 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:30 AM in front of North Elementary School. The Food Booths, Flea Market, and Craft Booths open at 9:00 AM. Fireworks are set for 8:45 PM Saturday evening and the night ends at 11:30 PM when the Beer Garden shuts down. On Sunday, all the Food Booths, Flea Market, and Craft Booths open at 10:00 AM. The Parade on Main Street is at 3:00 PM and the Poseyville Autumnfest ends at 6:00 PM on Sunday.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says there is free fishing this Saturday, September 27th. It’s the last free fishing day of 2025. This means that a fishing license or trout/salmon stamp is not needed by Indiana residents. You can find a public fishing location at on.IN.gov/where2fish.
Posey County Democrat Women’s Club is hosting a free hotdog picnic this Saturday, September 27th from Noon until 2:00 PM. It will be held at Avery Place at the new Hageman Park in Mt. Vernon. Candidates for the 2026 8th District, State Senate, and State Representative elections will be attending. They say children are welcome too.

The American Red Cross in Evansville is looking to build up its blood supplies. Ascension St. Vincent is hosting a blood drive today at The Manor on Washington Avenue from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Red Cross officials say they provide about 40% of the nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors, but supply can’t always meet demand because only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. Officials encourage appointments, but walk-ins may be accepted as well.
Last night in local high school sports…Mt. Vernon Volleyball beat Memorial at home in 4 sets. Mt. Vernon won the first set 25-15, the second set 30-28, lost the 3rd set 25-18, and then took the 4th set, 25-21. The Wildcats have won back-to-back matches, and they are 7-12 on the season.
Coming up this evening in local high school sports…Mt. Vernon Volleyball plays at Central. The JV match is at 5:30 PM and Varsity at 7:00 PM.
Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer travels to Boonville at 5:30 PM.
Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis has a road match at Tecumseh at 5:00 PM.
North Posey Volleyball is at home vs Tecumseh. The JV match starts at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
North Posey Girls Soccer journeys to Heritage Hills at 5:30 PM.
North Posey Boys Soccer battles Heritage Hills on the road at 7:00 PM.
North Posey Boys Tennis welcomes Heritage Hills at 4:30 PM.
In local college sports…USI Women’s Soccer is home on campus at 7:00 PM as they take on Morehead State.
Evansville Women’s Soccer plays a road match at Southern Illinois at 6:00 PM.
