Runners are gearing up for the 7th annual “Oh Christmas Tree” race event at Harmonie State Park this Sunday at 1:00 PM. Participants can choose between a 12K course, and a 5K out-and-back route. Unlike previous years, the 5K will feature a flatter course without the hill to the turnaround. Everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a medal inspired by Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes and a cake itself. Registration fees are $45, with discounts available for students, veterans, and active military. Early shirt and bib pickup is on Friday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Core Chiropractic in Evansville. Awards will be given to the top two overall male and female finishers for both the 12K and 5K. Partial proceeds from the race will benefit the Harmonie State Park Children's Summer Program.

 

The Valhalla Half Marathon and 5K will return to Poseyville, Indiana, on June 7, 2026, after an eight-year hiatus. The event marks the first half marathon and 5K organized by Tri-State Fit and will be the third and final race in the Ultimate Fit - Shoes & Fitness For Active Lifestyles series. Participants can look forward to receiving a unique finisher medal, featuring a custom di-cast Viking ship measuring six inches in length, touted as one of the largest medals since 2011. Registration for the race and the series will open soon.

 

The Posey County Prosecutor’s Office is having an Educational Community Event tomorrow evening at the Posey County 4H Community Events Center from 7:00-8:15 PM. The educational event is for adults only. It will provide parents and community members with the ability, knowledge, and confidence to help prevent and quickly identify alcohol, drug use, and abuse indicators of possible at-risk individuals.

 

For the third year in a row, the University of Evansville will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day with a free multi-sport clinic. The event will be led by UE coaches and student athletes representing the golf team, volleyball, softball, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, track & field, and spirit team. Children ranging from kindergarten to the eighth grade are encouraged to attend. Campers will receive a free t-shirt and a voucher to attend any home women’s regular season event before December 31st, 2026. The free event in association with Ascension St. Vincent will be held on Saturday, January 31st. All campers must be registered for the event online, as walk-ups will not be allowed. Last night in local high school sports, North Posey Girls Basketball lost at home to Reitz, 67-40. The Lady Vikings are 7-2 overall and they play again on Thursday at Mater Dei.

Tonight, in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball plays at Heritage Hills. The JV game starts at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game is at 7:00 PM. You can listen to the Varsity game on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. The Wildcats are 2-2.  

 

From local college sports on Monday night, USI Men’s Basketball had their game at home vs East-West University canceled due to travel issues from East-West University. The game will not be rescheduled. USI Men’s Basketball is 3-7 on the season and they begin conference play on Thursday at home with Arkansas Little Rock.

Evansville Men’s Basketball is home tonight at Ford Center as the Purple Aces begin Missouri Valley Conference play vs Belmont at 6:00 PM. UE is 4-7 on the year.
