The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will no longer allow customers to change their gender markers on their driver’s licenses or state-issued IDs later this week. According to the BMV's website, it will implement the rule change this Thursday. Indiana residents were previously allowed to change their gender by using a court-ordered gender change or a physician’s statement. The rule change comes nearly a year after Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed an executive order that “rejects extreme gender ideology in favor of the scientific reality of biological sex.”
The University of Southern Indiana is inviting the campus and community to take a trip around the world, without leaving Evansville. USI’s International Club and Center for International Programs will host the annual International Food Expo this Friday. According to the university, the event gives international students a chance to share their home countries’ cultures, customs, and cuisines. Attendees can sample a variety of main dishes and desserts from around the globe, along with live entertainment. The Expo will also feature cultural dances, musical performances, and a fashion show showcasing traditional attire. Tickets are available online through the International Food Expo website. Prices are ten dollars for USI students and fifteen dollars for faculty, staff, and community members. Tickets can also be purchased with cash or Munch Money at Eagle Bistro or the Eagle Access Card Office in University Center West. A limited number will be sold on the day of the event. The International Food Expo runs from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM this Friday in Carter Hall, located in University Center West on the USI campus.
Students gearing up for college in southwest Indiana will soon have access to professional help with FASFA filing for free. A release from Ivy Tech Community College says financial aid professionals will be at Ivy Tech Evansville’s Carter Library at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 22nd to help those who are planning to go to college, and their families, to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). The event is free for students planning on going to college in Indiana.
Tonight, in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball has a home game against Memorial. The JV game beings at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game is at 7:00 PM. The Wildcats are 11-6 on the year. The game can be heard on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

Last night in local college sports, Evansville Men’s Basketball ended their 6-game losing streak as they defeated Illinois State at home, 88-80. UE shot 56% FG and was 14-21 from 3-point range for 66%. AJ Casey had a career-high 28 points as he was 10-15 shooting. Leif Moeller had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also had 8 assists. Bryce Quinet chipped in with 17 points and Kaia Berridge added 14 points off the bench. The Purple Aces improve to 6-19 and 2-12 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They play at Southern Illinois on Thursday.
Indiana Men’s Basketball won easily at home over Oregon, 92-74. Lamar Wilkerson carried the Hoosiers with 41 points. He is the 5th IU player all-time to have multiple 40+ point games in a single season, as he scored 44 points back in December vs Penn State. The Hoosiers are 17-8 overall and 8-6 in the Big 10. They play on Sunday at #8 Illinois.
Tonight, #13 Purdue battles #7 Nebraska on the road at 6:00 PM. The Boilermakers are in search of a 3rd-straight win. They are 19-4 and 9-3 in the Big 10.
In the NBA this evening, the Indiana Pacers are in New York to take on the Knicks at 6:30 PM. The Pacers are 13-40 on the season.
