First responders have ended the search for a missing woman with dementia in Posey County. Monday night, Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for 89-year-old Lola Davis. A few hours later, they cancelled the Silver Alert. Sheriff Tom Latham said she was found in Owensboro. Local law enforcement, several fire departments, and search and rescue spent the entire day and night trying to find her. The Family says Davis walked out of her house between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM yesterday. This was around the area of Middle Mount Vernon and Ford Road in Mount Vernon. Authorities on scene used drones in the air and K-9s on the ground to search through the rough terrain. Mounted patrols from the Evansville Police Department were also on the ground to search for her.

 

Authorities in Posey County are looking for a woman that the family says has dementia. In a post on Facebook, the Posey County Sheriff’s Department says deputies, several fire departments, and Search and Rescue crews have been searching around Middle Mt. Vernon Road and Ford Road to locate Lola Davis. The family says Davis walked out of her house between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM yesterday. According to family, Davis left without her phone but grabbed her purse. The family is asking for people in the area to check doorbell cameras for any signs of Davis. Saint Wendel Catholic Church is hosting their 12th annual Christmas in July event tomorrow at Wendel Hall, which is located at 10542 West Boonville New Harmony Road. Doors open at 5:30 PM and then at 6:00 PM there will be the welcome and dessert auction, followed by dinner. The dinner meal is Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Homemade Dressing, Green Beans, Creamy Coleslaw, Applesauce, and Rolls. You can purchase tickets at the door. Adult tickets are 14 dollars, kids’ tickets are 7 dollars, and kids 3 years old and younger get in for free. All proceeds benefit Jacob’s Village. The theme is Holiday Attire as guests are encouraged to wear festive clothing for a jolly night of Christmas cheer.

 

The Posey County Health Department shared on Facebook that coming up this Saturday, there is a Destination Wellness event at CMOE from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. This will be an interactive community event that educates children and their families regarding proper diet and exercise and helps to mitigate fears children may have in medical situations. The free event will include hands-on activities and live demonstrations from all aspects of the medical field. There will also be giveaways of backpacks filled with school supplies, bicycles with helmets, and much more.

 

Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department says that this Saturday there is a splash into Aquapalooza event at the Rush Fulwider Community Center. It will be from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Saturday. There will be a couple of water inflatables. One of the water inflatables is called “All Blown Up” which is an extreme H2O water slide obstacle course and the other is a Dolphin Dive Water Slide.

 

Family Matters of Posey County shared on Facebook that on Tuesday, July 22nd at Hedges Central Gymnasium, there will be a Backpack Give-Away Day. If interested, you need to call Family Matters to schedule an appointment. The number is 812-838-6875.

 

The office of the Posey County Community Corrections is looking to hire a field officer. Applications are now being accepted for the position. The officer will work with clients who have been sentenced to home detention, work release, alcohol monitoring and pretrial electronics monitoring. You must be 21 or older with no felony convictions and possess a valid driver’s license. This is a grant funded position. From Major League Baseball on Monday…both the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs had the day off. Tonight, the Cardinals return home after a 9-game road trip and begin a 3-game series against the Washington Nationals at 6:45 PM. St. Louis is 48-43. Also, this evening, the Chicago Cubs hit the road for a 3-game set at the Minnesota Twins at 6:45 PM. The Cubs record is 54-36.
