In Game 5 of the NBA Finals last night the Indiana Pacers lost at the Oklahoma City Thunder, 120-109. Pascal Siakam scored 28 points in the loss for the Pacers. The Thunder now lead the best-of-seven championship series, 3-2. Game 6 is back in Indiana on Thursday night as the Pacers will try to force a Game 7 with a win.

 

Burdette Park Pools have been closed the last couple of days due to storm damage and flooding. Starting today, the Burdette Park Aquatic Center will be back open once again. However, only the Olympic pool, spray park, and the back water slides will be open. The family/kids pool will be closed as they continue to work and clean that area.

 

Tomorrow there will be a community reception in Mt. Vernon at United Fidelity Bank to meet the new Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball Coaches. This will be a chance to meet Head Coach Doug Novsek and Assistant Coach Robin Duncan. The reception will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM on Wednesday.

 

Coming up this Saturday at Harmonie State Park is the Second Annual Hot Rods at Harmonie event. Registration will be from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. Prizes will be awarded at 1:30 PM and there will be food and drinks provided, as well as music provided. They say the gate fee applies to the general public. It is 7 dollars for Indiana vehicles and 9 dollars for out of state vehicles, or you can use your Annual Entrance Pass. All cars and trucks are welcome. New this year, you can buy Hot Rods at Harmonie T-Shirts for 15 dollars each.

 

This Sunday, Mt. Vernon Football is having their First Annual Fishing Day from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM at St. Phillip’s Conservation Club. All Wildcat Football Families Grades K-12 are welcome to attend. They say to bring your own fishing gear and tackle, but they will have some extra fishing supplies if needed. Hotdogs and Hamburgers will be provided for lunch.

 

From Major League Baseball on Monday…the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds all had the day off.

Tonight, the St. Louis Cardinals start a 3-game series in Chicago against the White Sox at 6:40 PM. The Cardinals have lost 7 of their last 8 games and are 37-35 overall.

The Chicago Cubs welcome the Milwaukee Brewers for the 1st of a 3-game set this evening at 7:05 PM. The Cubs sit at 44-28.

The Cincinnati Reds are home tonight as they open a 3-game series vs the Minnesota Twins at 6:10 PM. The Reds have a record of 37-35.
