A Poseyville man is facing felony child sex crime charges after a victim came forward at Holly’s House in Evansville. Deputies with the Posey County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year-old Andrew Bastain was arrested for Child Molesting, Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, and other charges. On the morning hours of Saturday, August 23rd, Posey County Deputies and Detective responded to a complaint of a sex crime. Upon arrival, deputies and detectives conducted an investigation that included speaking with the victim and witnesses. On Monday, the victim was forensically interviewed at Holly’s House. Bastain is currently in the Posey County Jail.
A fan-favorite fall tradition is making its way back to Holiday World. Holiday World officials have announced that Happy Halloween Weekends will return on Saturday, September 20th. This year, the family-friendly event will feature a brand-new dinosaur theme. That theme will stomp its way through the entire experience — from a dino-themed corn maze to a high-flying drone show, and even some creative dinosaur-inspired menu items. Last year, Happy Halloween Weekends was named one of the best Halloween events in the country by USA Today. It’s been nominated again for 2025 — and the park is currently sitting in second place. Fans can vote once a day through September 22nd on USA Today’s website.
On Monday, the Indiana Football Coaches Association polls were released as we head into Week 2 of the regular season. In Class 4A, Heritage Hills is ranked 2nd and Reitz is 6th. Class 3A, Memorial is 1st, Gibson Southern is 2nd, Mater Dei 3rd, and Southridge is 15th. In Class 2A, North Posey is 13th.
This Friday night Mt. Vernon Football travels to Boonville and North Posey Football is on the road at Tecumseh.
Last night in local high school sports…Mt. Vernon Girls soccer won 2-0 at Princeton. The Wildcats improve to 2-1.
Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis lost at Southridge, 5-0.
North Posey Boys Tennis picked up a 5-0 win at Bosse. The Vikings are 3-0 on the season.
Tonight, in local high school sports…North Posey Volleyball is at home taking on Evansville Christian. The JV match is at 5:30 PM and the Varsity match is at 7:00 PM.
From the local college sports scene on Tuesday night…USI Men’s Soccer got their first victory of the season as they beat Rose Hulman at home, 1-0. The Screaming Eagles are now 1-1.
From Major League Baseball on Tuesday…the St. Louis Cardinals lost game two of their series at home with the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-3. The Cardinals are now 65-68. Game three of the 4-game set is tonight in St. Louis at 6:45 PM.
