Summer break is officially over for teachers and students in Posey County. Today is the first official day of school for the MSD of Mt. Vernon and the MSD of North Posey.

 

Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District says that tomorrow there is a Well Water Workshop from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Posey County Fairgrounds. This will be a chance to hear from speakers to learn about why you should be concerned about your well water and how to keep you and your family safe. The workshop will be held in the Community Center at the Posey County Fairgrounds.

 

In Evansville, progress is being made on repairs after a massive sinkhole opened on Riverside Drive in February. This week, officials say crews will be installing sheet piling around the project footprint. The work is expected to take up to three weeks to be completed. A spokesperson with the EWSU said crews are using a vibration hammer to drive 90 pairs of sheet piling, each 50 feet long and approximately 46 feet into the ground. The sheet piling will create a safe area so crews can finally start digging down to the collapsed brick sewer and begin repairs.

 

WWE officials announced three new dates for Raw and SmackDown across the United States. According to a press release, the event is scheduled to take place at the Ford Center in Evansville on September 22nd. Tickets for the event will go on sale this Friday at 10:00 AM. Fans can purchase tickets during an exclusive presale by visiting Ticketmaster.com and using the code WWETIX starting this morning at 10:00 AM until tomorrow at 11:59 PM.

 

High School Football season officially began on Monday with the IHSAA’s first official day of practice for teams across the state. A week from Friday are the scrimmages and then Friday, August 22nd is Week 1. The 2025 Indiana Football Coaches Association Pre-Season Polls have been released. There are four teams in the SIAC that are ranked in the Top 10 and two teams in the Pocket Athletic Conference that are in the Top 10 as well. In Class 5A, Castle is 10th. In Class 4A, Heritage Hills is 2nd, and Reitz is 7th. In Class 3A, Memorial is 2nd, Gibson Southern 3rd, and Mater Dei is 5th.
