Tomorrow night is the St. Wendel 58th Annual Bierstube at 11714 Winery Road in Wadesville. It begins at 6:00 PM on Thursday and continues Friday and Saturday. Entertainment this year features the Shellhorn Band on Thursday, JB and The Tried and True on Friday, and Nashville Recording Artist Kenna Elpers with special guest Jagger Winegar on Saturday.

 

This Saturday in New Harmony, the New Harmony All Guild Members Art Show opens and runs through August 9th at the Working Men’s Institute in New Harmony. This exhibition is a celebration of the creative work of the members of the New Harmony Artists’ Guild. The theme of this year’s show challenges members of the Artists’ Guild to utilize repurposed, reclaimed, or recycled materials. This is the second year of the annual all-member show, making the resurgence of the long-standing community of the New Harmony Artists’ Guild. The Guild currently calls the Depot their home base, maintaining regular classes, workshops, and open studio hours for members of the organization. North Posey Football is having a Free Youth Football Camp on July 28th-30th at Joe Gengelbach Field from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM each night. The camp is for incoming K-8 grade students. Posey County 911 Dispatch says they are now accepting applications for a Part Time Dispatcher. Applicants need to have flexible availability for weekends and swing shifts. They also need to be able to dedicate at least 32 hours a week during 12 weeks of training, followed by a minimum for 12 hours a month once training is complete. Applicants must have a High School Diploma. Candidates need to be able to type 40 WPM, handle many tasks, have excellent communication skills, and pass a background check. An application can be obtained at the Dispatch Office at 305 Mill Street in Mt. Vernon. They are open Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. Applications will be accepted until 8:00 AM on Monday, August 4th.

 

The Evansville Goodwill says they will be in the Town of Cynthiana this Friday at the Community Center Parking Lot from 1:00-3:00 PM if you have any donations to drop off. The address of the location is 10456 Mulkey Road in Cynthiana.

 

The United States Postal Service is looking to fill several jobs by holding job fairs across the state of Indiana. Friday, July 25th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, job seekers will have the chance to learn more about immediate openings for rural carrier associates and assistant rural carriers. In the Posey County area, fairs will be held in Mt. Vernon at 308 Walnut Street and in Poseyville at 41 South Locust Street. They say that the pay for these jobs starts at $20.38 per hour.

 

University of Southern Indiana school officials say there will be a free undergraduate application period for students interested in beginning their college journey this fall. According to a press release, undergraduate freshmen and transfer degree-seeking students can enjoy a waived application fee Monday, July 21st through Friday, August 1st with the promo code, APPLYUSI. Officials say prospective undergraduate students should apply via the USI application by midnight Friday, August 1st using the promo code APPLYUSI. In addition to acceptance to the University, applicants will also be considered for merit-based scholarships.
