Coming up this weekend in New Harmony is the 23rd Annual New Harmony Antique Show. It will take place on Saturday and Sunday and there will be antique vendors, live music, and local markets. The community is encouraged to explore the historic streets, enjoy great food and shopping, and soak up the summer vibes this Saturday and Sunday.
Next Wednesday, June 18th there will be a community reception in Mt. Vernon at United Fidelity Bank to meet the new Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball Coaches. This will be a chance to meet Head Coach Doug Novsek and Assistant Coach Robin Duncan. The reception will be from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM next Wednesday.
Posey County Council on Aging is inviting the community to a presentation about financial scams on Friday, June 13th at 10:00 AM. United Fidelity’s Tammy Harrington will present information on types of scams that are around these days and how to spot and avoid them. It is free to attend. The location is 611 West 8th Street in Mt. Vernon. If you have any questions, you can call 812-838-4656.
Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry presented EVSC Superintendent Dr. David Smith with the "Key to the City" on Monday night. After 43 years with the EVSC and 14 years as superintendent, Superintendent Smith announced his retirement back in January. Dr. Darla Hoover will succeed Dr. Smith as the next superintendent of the EVSC. Dr. Hoover will officially begin her tenure as superintendent on July 1st.
The NBA Finals resume tonight with Game 3 between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The series shifts to Indianapolis this evening as the best-of-seven series is tied 1-1. Tonight’s game gets underway at 7:30 PM.
From Major League Baseball on Tuesday…the St. Louis Cardinals got beat at home 10-9 in Game 2 of their series vs the Toronto Blue Jays. The Redbirds have now lost 3-straight games as their record slides to 36-31. The Cardinals hope to avoid the sweep this afternoon at 1:15 PM.
The Chicago Cubs earned a win in Philadelphia 8-4 against the Phillies. The Cubs improve to 41-26. Those two teams play the rubber game of their 3-game set today at 12:05 PM.
The Cincinnati Reds won a pitcher’s duel in Cleveland, 1-0 over the Guardians. It’s the Reds 5th-straight win as they run their record to 35-33. Cincinnati looks to complete the 3-game sweep today at 12:10 PM.
