Mount Vernon Wildcats Football VS Forest Park 08-22-25

The Mount Vernon Wildcats opened their season in dominant fashion, shutting out the Forest Park Rangers 44–0.

First Quarter
Mount Vernon struck first midway through the opening quarter. After their defense forced an early stop, Shane Krieger broke free up the middle for a 38-yard touchdown run, with Mason Higginson adding the extra point for a 7–0 lead. Just two minutes later, the Wildcats unveiled a trick play — a double reverse flea flicker. Ryder Snodgrass connected with Nash Hostetter for a 62-yard touchdown, and after a Forest Park penalty, Easton Hall powered in a two-point conversion to extend the lead to 15–0.

Second Quarter
Forest Park tried to answer with a long field goal attempt, but it fell short. Mount Vernon quickly capitalized as Krieger once again sliced through the defense for a 47-yard touchdown run, pushing the margin to 22–0. Minutes later, a bad snap on a Forest Park punt sailed out of the end zone for a safety, giving Mount Vernon a 24–0 halftime advantage.

Third Quarter
The Wildcats kept rolling after the break. Snodgrass hit Hostetter for another big play, this time a 64-yard touchdown strike to make it 31–0. Later in the quarter, Snodgrass found Hostetter again — this time on a short pass where Hostetter juked a defender and raced up the sideline for a 33-yard touchdown, stretching the lead to 38–0.

Fourth Quarter
With the game in hand and the running clock in effect, Mount Vernon gave their younger players opportunities. Colin Bowers capped the night with a 15-yard touchdown run, sealing the 44–0 shutout victory.
