Mount Vernon Wildcats Football VS Princeton 09-19-25
The Mount Vernon Wildcats survived a wild Friday night in Princeton, edging the Tigers 42–35 in a game that had everything—big plays, weather delays, and late-game heroics. The Wildcats dominated early, building a 28–0 lead behind touchdowns from Shane Krieger, Eastin Hall, and Luke Weintraut, with quarterback Ryder Snodgrass leading the charge. But after a lightning delay stretched halftime by more than an hour, momentum shifted sharply to Princeton.
The Tigers came out firing in the second half, fueled by running back Karwin Pope. Pope ripped off touchdown runs of 70, 6, and 90 yards, pulling Princeton all the way back to tie the game at 28–28 late in the third quarter. When Pope scored again from two yards out with just under six minutes left in the fourth, Princeton had its first lead, 35–28, and the Wildcats were suddenly facing an uphill climb with their starting quarterback sidelined by injury.
That’s when senior Brady Schickel stepped up. Taking over under center, Schickel broke loose on a 64-yard run that was ruled out at the five-yard line, then punched it in moments later to bring Mount Vernon within a point. The two-point try failed, leaving Princeton clinging to a 35–34 advantage. But with 1:27 left on the clock, Schickel and wide receiver Logan Clowers connected on a 43-yard strike to set up the winning score. Krieger added the two-point conversion to push the Wildcats ahead 42–35.
Princeton had one final chance, but Clowers sealed the victory with a late interception near the goal line. Statistically, Mount Vernon piled up 526 yards of offense, with Krieger leading the ground game at 163 yards and two scores, while Clowers tallied 112 receiving yards and a touchdown. For Princeton, Pope was nearly unstoppable, rushing for 215 yards and four touchdowns. Conor Marsh added a 1-yard touchdown run, while Cale Beloat guided the Tigers’ offense through the air. In the receiving game, Quintyn Voltz, Logan Stocker, and Michael Brown all made key grabs, with Drake Cox chipping in both rushing and receiving yards. Kicker Charlie Wilhite added three extra points on the night.
In the end, it was a tale of two halves—Mount Vernon’s dominance early, Princeton’s furious rally in the third quarter, and the Wildcats’ resilience in the final minutes. With their backs against the wall, the Wildcats found a way, leaning on depth, heart, and clutch plays to escape with a hard-fought road win.
