Mount Vernon Wildcats Football VS South Spencer 09-12-25

The Mount Vernon Wildcats put on a show for their homecoming crowd, rolling to a 49–7 win behind explosive plays on both sides of the ball. The tone was set on the very first play from scrimmage when Shane Krieger sprinted 66 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Ryder Snodgrass followed with a pair of long scoring strikes—51 yards to Brady Schickel and 79 yards to Nash Hostetter—as Mount Vernon raced out to a 21–0 first-quarter lead. By the time the second quarter began, the Wildcats were in full control, highlighted by Logan Clowers’ electrifying 97-yard pick six and another Snodgrass-to-Hostetter connection that made it 35–0. Just minutes later, Clowers delivered his own interception return for a touchdown, extending the halftime advantage to 42–0.

South Spencer broke through in the third quarter when Braden Hughes fought for a contested catch in the end zone, earning credit for the touchdown on a dual-possession play. But Mount Vernon quickly snuffed out any momentum. In the fourth, Brycen Riggan powered in from nine yards out to cap the scoring and push the Wildcats’ lead to 49–7, sealing the running-clock victory. Kicker Mason Higginson was automatic all night, converting all seven extra-point attempts.

Statistically, the Wildcats were dominant on both fronts. Mount Vernon piled up 411 yards of total offense, including 213 on the ground and 198 through the air, while also tacking on 137 interception return yards from Clowers. Snodgrass finished 9-of-10 passing, while Hostetter tallied 128 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Krieger rushed for 100 yards and a score on just six carries. The defense limited South Spencer to 163 yards and forced three turnovers, two of which went for touchdowns. On homecoming night, it was a complete team performance that left no doubt about Mount Vernon’s firepower on both sides of the ball.
