North Posey Vikings Football VS Forest Park 10-03-25

The North Posey Vikings dominated from start to finish Friday night in Ferdinand, defeating the Forest Park Rangers 42–7 to clinch the PAC Small School Division Championship once again. The Vikings’ offense was unstoppable, scoring touchdowns on all six of their possessions. Running back Bret Buecher opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, and from there, North Posey never looked back. Quarterback Carter Schickel was outstanding all night, leading the Vikings with confidence and precision as the offense struck early and often.

North Posey’s passing game shined in the first half, with Schickel connecting on touchdown passes to Remi Johnson and Davin Sullivan, the latter marking Sullivan’s first varsity touchdown. Buecher continued to punish the Forest Park defense, breaking loose for a 43-yard scoring run late in the second quarter to make it 28–0. Before halftime, Schickel found Dylan Murphy from five yards out to push the lead to 35–0. The Vikings executed flawlessly through the air and on the ground, while the defense held firm, bottling up the Rangers’ offense and forcing multiple punts.

Buecher capped his big night with an eight-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter — his third of the game — making it 42–0. The senior finished with 18 carries for 172 yards and three touchdowns, while Schickel completed 15 of 18 passes for 145 yards and three scores. Murphy led the receiving corps with six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown, while Johnson added five receptions for 62 yards and another score. In total, North Posey rolled up 358 yards of offense — 213 rushing and 145 passing — and kicker Ethan Ashby stayed perfect on extra points, going six-for-six.

Forest Park’s lone highlight came late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Anden Uebelhor launched a 47-yard touchdown pass to Hudson King, who elevated for the catch and sprinted to the end zone. King led the Rangers with three receptions for 63 yards, while Will Steckler and Carter Jochem contributed on the ground and defensive side of the ball. Steven Reinke and Riley Begle were standouts on defense, combining for several tackles to slow North Posey’s relentless rushing attack. With the win, the Vikings improved to 6–1 overall and a perfect 5–0 in PAC Small School Division play. Next up is Senior Night at Joe Jingle Ball Field, as North Posey hosts Heritage Hills before finishing the regular season with the Posey County Cup showdown at Mount Vernon.
