North Posey Vikings Football VS Pike Central in Sectionals 10-24-25

The North Posey Vikings opened postseason play in dominant fashion Friday night, cruising past Pike Central 50–6 in the opening round of the Class 2A Sectional 39 tournament at Joe Jingle Ball Fields. The Vikings took control early and never looked back, piling up more than 500 yards of total offense while limiting the Chargers to just 236. With the win, North Posey advances to the sectional semifinals and keeps alive its bid for another championship run under head coach Waylon Schenk.

Senior quarterback Carter Schickel led a balanced Viking attack, completing 15 of 22 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns—all in the first half. Camden Clowers continued his strong postseason stretch with three catches for 36 yards and two touchdowns, including a six-yard strike early in the second half that triggered the running-clock rule. Remi Johnson was explosive through the air, hauling in seven receptions for 136 yards and two scores before halftime. Brody Fehn added 46 receiving yards on two grabs, while Davin Sullivan caught three passes for 17 yards as North Posey spread the ball efficiently among its playmakers.

On the ground, Bret Buecher powered the Vikings with 148 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, all in the first half. His hard running opened up opportunities for the passing game and kept the Pike Central defense on its heels. Cru Wilzbacher added a 63-yard burst to open the second half, setting up Clowers’ second touchdown, and Joey Hisch chipped in 79 yards on five carries. Lane Smith handled limited carries late in the contest while Hank Lilly saw backup action at quarterback as the Vikings used their depth in the backfield. Altogether, North Posey rolled up 298 yards rushing to complement its aerial production for a total of 533 yards of offense.

Defensively, the Vikings allowed just one big play—a 73-yard touchdown pass from Pike Central’s quarterback to his receiver early in the first quarter. From that point on, the defense clamped down, holding the Chargers to 55 rushing yards and forcing several negative plays. The Vikings were disciplined as well, flagged only twice for 20 yards, and consistently won the battle at the line of scrimmage thanks to solid performances from players like Drake Brown, Zeke Roosevelt, and Vince Weatherholt anchoring the defensive front.

With the commanding win, North Posey moves on to face a formidable Sullivan Golden Arrows squad in next week’s sectional semifinal. The Vikings will make the trip up Highway 41 to meet a Sullivan team that has scored 70 or more points in each of its last three games. Coach Schenk and his staff will spend the week preparing for the challenge as the Vikings continue their pursuit of another sectional crown.
