Carol Bryant

Carol Jean Bryant, age 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away March 8, 2026. She was born April 1, 1944, in Lafayette, Indiana, to James and Alice King.

Carol graduated from Kokomo High School in 1962 and served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts. She later worked at Purdue University in the Chemistry Business Office and Administrative Office, retiring in 1998.

Carol was devoted to her family and was active in her daughter’s school and activities while serving as a Girl Scout leader, softball coach, and PTA volunteer. She enjoyed coin collecting, computer games, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James King.

Carol is survived by her husband, Daniel Bryant; her daughter, Amy Hueftle; her grandchildren, Jonathan Hueftle and Emily Hueftle; her sisters, Myrtle Rausch and Ruth Ann Shelton; her brother, Robert King; her sister, Mary Ellen Bliss; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 Thursday evening, March 19, at Schneider Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with military honors to follow. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:30 until service time at the funeral home.
