United Fidelity Bank's 13th annual Community Day is tomorrow. The event will take place at the Mt. Vernon Banking Center which is located at 500 East Fourth Street in Mt. Venron from 10 AM to 1 PM. You can stop by and enjoy free hotdogs, popcorn, snow cones, and drinks. They will aslo have drawings for IU Football tickets, Brew Fest tickets, Western Hills Country Club golf passes, plus various other great prizes. Inflatable games will be set up for the kids to enjoy. In addition, Musician Nick Smith and the Mt. Vernon High School Cheerleaders and Pep Band will be on hand to provide additional entertainment. More than 30 local civic and community organizations will be available. Community Day is free of charge, including food and refreshments courtesy of United Fidelity Bank and McKim's IGA.
Today from 3-6 PM at McKim's IGA in Mt. Vernon, West Elementary is havinig their first fundraiser of the year. It is their PTO Ribfest. Price per slab is $18 and IGA graciously donates a portion of the sales back to West Elementary to support the kids and school.
Posey County Workwear is having their grand opening tomorrow from 9 AM until 1 PM. They are located at 1 Competition Way in Mt. Vernon, which is next to Hawg N Sauce. They have a large selection of flame resistant and reflective clothing. Stop by tomorrow during the grand opening to shop and register to win a free pair of boots.
Week one of the High School Football Season kicks off tonight across the tri-state. Locally, Mt. Vernon travels to Heritage Hills for a 7:00 PM start and the game can be heard on the radio on 106.7 FM WMVI. North Posey heads to South Spencer for a 7:00 PM kickoff. That game is on 98.9 FM WPIW. Both games can be heard online as well at PoseyCountyRadio.com.
