Early this morning at 12:49 AM, officers with the Mount Vernon Police Department conducted a traffic stop on an SUV for speeding along with other vehicle violations. Upon stopping the vehicle, Officer Woodley (MVPD) made contact with the driver. The driver was 36-year-old Gilbert K. Eaton. During the traffic stop, a search of the vehicle revealed a handgun, digital scales with residue, a large bag with suspected methamphetamine along with various other pills. Eaton was arrested and transported to the Posey County Jail.
Mt. Vernon High School’s Key Club has been raising money for Riley Hospital for Children over the last 3 months. Currently, they have $1,529 out of their $2,000 goal raised so far. Tonight, they are hosting an event from 5:00-6:00 PM in the Mount Vernon High School Auxiliary Gym where they will try to reach their goal. There will be games, food, and fun in celebration of the brave kids at Riley's. A donation is optional, and all are invited to attend.

There’s a really big show in downtown Evansville this weekend. It’s the 21st annual Really Big Show, all to benefit the Arc of Evansville. This year’s theme is “The Really Big Mystery Show.” Community members will showcase their talents all while solving that mystery. That’s at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night at the Old National Events Plaza.
