If you're looking to fill your stomach this weekend and for a good cause, this may be the fundraising event for you. The New Harmony Fire Department will host their annual 'Sausage and Bean Supper' this Saturday, January 28th. Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Posey County 4-H Fairgrounds. Adult meal tickets will be $10 and children 12 and younger are $5. Organizers say there will be a raffle for two guns this year. Raffle tickets are $10 each or five tickets for $40. Tickets can be purchased from any New Harmony Fire Department member or at the door during the event.

Four people have been named as the 2023 Business Hall of Fame Laureates by Junior Achievement of Southwest Indiana. They were nominated for their civic and business contributions to the Evansville area. Candidates must be pillars of the community, excellent role models, and business leaders who have had a strong positive impact on the area. President of Junior Achievement Marcia Forston says having these role models helps students to identify their struggles and rise above. Those being inducted include the 2023 Active Laureates Mark Schroeder and Greg Wathen: and the 2023 Historical Laureates Colonel William McCurdy and James Igleheart. The official induction ceremony will be on May 9 at the Old National Events Plaza.

The Evansville Police Department is in need of new recruits, to protect and serve the citizens of Evansville. To get accepted into the academy you must undergo a physical fitness assessment test, several exams, and interviews. These are all to confirm the cadets are prepared for tough and dangerous situations. The department is divided into four major divisions: Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Administrative, and Support Services. All departments are hiring qualified applicants. The January hiring deadline has passed, but EPD accepts applications year-round.
