Posey County Radio News and Sports

News:

Coming up tonight, it’s High School Football Regional action across the tri-state. Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football have been eliminated from postseason play, but we will have High School Football on 106.7 FM WMVI this evening. With many families and students in the Posey County area that have ties to Mater Dei, we will be broadcasting the Mater Dei at Triton Central Class 2A Regional Football game at 5:30 PM on 106.7 FM. Lance Wilkerson will bring you all the action on the radio and fans can also listen online at poseycountyradio.com. Mater Dei is 9-3 on the season and Triton Central is 10-2.

Other Regional Football matchups tonight include a Class 5A matchup between 7-4 Castle and 9-1 Bloomington South at 6:30 PM. That game will be played at Castle High School. In Class 4A, 9-3 Memorial will play host to 10-2 East Central at 6:30 PM at Enlow Field in Evansville. There is one matchup on Saturday and that is in Class 3A with 11-1 Southridge hosting 11-1 Lawrenceburg at 4:00 PM.

North Posey High School is having a Christmas Toy Drive as part of their 1st Annual “Spirit of Christmas” Event. They are looking for donations of new (unwrapped) toys. All toys will be donated to Toys for Tots on behalf of the North Posey Community. They are accepting donations through Friday, December 16th. Drop-off location is North Posey High School, which is located at 5900 High School Road in Poseyville. For more information, you can call 812-673-4242.

Tomorrow in Mt. Vernon, Wildcat Youth Basketball Association is having their second annual Tacos and Trivia night. It will be held at the American Legion, which is located at 203 Walnut Street in Mt. Vernon. You can join them for a fun-filled night with dinner, games, and prizes. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the trivia starts at 6:30 PM. Cost is 25 dollars per-player, and you can have teams of up to 6 people. All proceeds go to the Wildcat Youth Basketball Association K-12 program.

The Four Freedoms Veterans Parade will roll down West Franklin Street Saturday to honor our local heroes. Parade registration starts at 10:30 AM on Saturday in the corner lot of the Lloyd and St. Joe. Officials say the Grand Marshal is Jerry Blake. He’s a North High School grad and served in the U.S. Army and Reserves for 40 years. He had two tours in Vietnam, one in Honduras, and one in Kuwait/Iraq. The parade will start at 2:00 PM on West Franklin Street. It will be blocked off from St. Joe to Wabash Ave.

Holiday World is going cashless next year. Officials say this means cash won’t be accepted. They say it will help make a huge difference in their serving time, and will make for smoother operations. They will accept all major credit cards, Apple and Google pay, and Holi-cash. If you do have cash, you’ll be able to load it onto a ReadyCARD at kiosks located around the park. If there’s still money on it when your trip is over, it’s still good to use anywhere credit cards are accepted.
