The Mount Vernon Police Department is warning people about fake money circulating in the area. According to a post on their Facebook page, the police department has been receiving complaints about counterfeit $100 bills. They are asking that everyone be on the lookout for them. These fake bills are usually used in films with words printed on the front saying, “For motion picture use only.”

 

Coming up this Saturday, Newlife Rescue and Adoption is having their Benefit Auction, Dinner, and Party at the Posey County Community Center. Doors open at 5:00 PM and you must be 21 year or older. There will be a dinner catered by Hawg N Sauce. It is also mentioned that Beer and Wine will be included. Mt. Vernon High School is hosting the Girls Basketball Class 3A Sectional 32 this week. They have had their first-round games postponed the last two nights, due to the slick road conditions. So, tonight they will finally get their first-round games in. Mt. Vernon will battle Memorial at 5:30 and then Mater Dei will take on Boonville at 7:00 PM. They have also adjusted the rest of the sectional schedule. The semi-final games will be played Saturday evening and the championship game will be Monday night.

This has also affected the Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball game that was originally scheduled for tonight at home against Princeton. Due to the girls sectional being played this evening, the Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball game at home against Princeton has been moved to Saturday, February 18th.

 

The Children's Museum of Evansville (cMoe) is inviting families to a free night of fun this evening. According to cMoe, the Family Free Night will be hosted this evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Organizers say the museum will host a variety of events for kids and parents to enjoy. Last admittance is at 7:30 PM, and all kids must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or over. You can RSVP to the event on Facebook. 

 

Sports:

- North Posey Boys Basketball travels to Pike Central tonight at 7:00 PM. Catch the game on 98.9 WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. 

- USI Women's Basketball (9-12, 3-7) tries to snap a 3-game losing streak this evening at home against Tennessee State at 5:00 PM. 

- USI Men's Basketball (13-10, 6-4) is also at home taking on Tennessee State at 7:30 PM. 

- The Indiana Pacers (24-28) retrun home to battle the Los Angeles Lakers at 6:00 PM.
