Keely Winiger, Executive Director of the United Way of Posey County and Tonya McDaniel, Campaign Chair announced Tuesday that the campaign drive ending in February raised $575,615.28 of the $575,000.00 goal. United Way of Posey County agencies that are receiving the funds in 2023 are: Albion Fellow Bacon Center, American Red Cross Posey County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Posey County, Boy Scouts of America Buffalo Trace Council, Catholic Charities, Children’s Learning Center, Christian Church Day Care Center, Community Emergency Assistance,  Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center Posey County, Family Matters, Lampion Center, New Harmony Ministry Association, Posey County Council on Aging, The Salvation Army and Willow Tree. In a release, Winiger says she is happy with the outcome, because it’s truly become local people helping local people and 100% of the funds say within Posey County. She also said she would like to thank each and everyone that helped with the campaign and thanked them for their incredible generosity to make the campaign a success. Two of the biggest brands in the country are partnering with the University of Southern Indiana, as reported by school officials. It was officially announced Wednesday afternoon that Nike and BSN Sports will collaborate with USI for their new athletic partnership. Officials say BSN Sports will serve as the official apparel and equipment provider to USI Athletics while outfitting the university’s athletes, coaches and community members in premier Nike product selection. The university will have a two-year period where they will begin switching from Adidas to Nike with some student-athletes already wondering when they will be able to get their hands on some new gear.

 

The NCAA Division Two Men’s Basketball Tournament in downtown Evansville at Ford Center continues today with the Final Four round. The two games today are at 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM. The winners of today’s game will play in the Championship on Saturday at 1:00 PM also at Ford Center in Evansville.

 

Sports:

- Mt. Vernon Baseball plays their scrimmage at home against Reitz tonight at 4:30 PM. 

- Mt. Vernon Softball travels to Loogootee at 5:00 PM. 

- Mt. Vernon Boys and Girls Track and Field participate in a meet at North at 5:00 PM. 

- From the Division One NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament...the Sweet 16 Round gets underway this evening. At 5:30 PM, Michigan State plays Kansas State. At 6:15 PM, Arkansas battles Uconn. Then at 8:00 PM, it's FAU against Tennessee. Finally at 8:45 PM, Gonzaga takes on UCLA.
