The Posey County Community Foundation posted on Facebook that the MSD of Mt. Vernon recently received a $3,000 grant from the Posey County Community Foundation through the Celebrating 30 Years of Giving Grant Program. The grant will provide general support to the three elementary schools within the MSD of Mt. Vernon School District, West, Marrs, and Farmersville.

 

A racial slur was spray-painted on the street in front of the New Life Temple Church of God and Christ in Mt. Vernon and found by the church's pastor on Sunday morning. After seven years preaching without incident, pastor Timothy Dunston was shocked by what he discovered on Sunday. After calling the police, the pastor then took to Facebook live to make the community aware of what had transpired. Pastor Dunston says he is registered to run for the mayor’s office in Mt. Vernon. The city of Mt. Vernon cleaned the word off the street on Monday afternoon. Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information on the vandalization to contact them.

Officials with the utility say, by using the App you will get faster, more secure, and instant access to your monthly water bill. In order to get paperless billing set up, you can visit the EWSU website, or download the “My Water” app.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals played their final Spring Training game yesterday and now turn their attention to the regular season. Opening Day across Major League Baseball is Thursday and the Cardinals will open up at home against the Toronto Blue Jays at 3:10 PM. You will be able to hear all the St. Louis Cardinals games on 106.7 FM WMVI.

 

Sports Tonight: 

- North Posey Softball is at home taking on Henderson County at 5:30 PM. 

- USI Baseball (7-17) travels to Ball State at 2:00 PM. The Screaming Eagles are trying to snap an 8-game losing streak.

- Evansville Softball (15-14) plays a DH at Lindenwood at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. UE has lost 5-straight games.
