News:

MSD of North Posey County will have an e-Learning Day tomorrow, Thursday, February 9th. Their staff uses these days for professional development training to benefit students and enhance classroom instruction. Students will not report to school buildings. Assignments will be communicated from classroom teachers. You can contact the specific course teacher if you have any questions.

Posey County EMS is getting an exciting new tool to better address the healthcare needs of the community. The Director of Posey County EMS, Paul Micheletti says that with the mobile integrated health program, it gives them the ability to maybe work with people that need help within the community either medicine wise, food wise, fall wise, or prevention wise.

A Health Issues and Challenges Grant awarded to Posey County from the State of Indiana will make this new health unit possible. The $370,000 in funds will go towards purchasing a sports utility vehicle that will render not only emergency services, but also many of the services one would find at a traditional doctor’s office. Paul Micheletti says he plans on reaching out to other counties that have similar systems to ensure the success of Posey County’s new set of wheels.

The county already has a vehicle similar to the planned health SUV, so officials are looking forward to improving on the concept with the new build. Once the EMTs get the key to the new vehicle, the team can get to work meeting some of the healthcare gaps that were shown during the pandemic. Officials say the service will be fully up and running by July 1st.

Another ‘Access to Service Fair’ event has been set in Evansville. That means people will be able to speak one-on-one with CenterPoint Energy and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility representatives about their accounts. Officials say the event is set for tomorrow night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CK Newsom Center. Officials from local assistance agencies and township trustee offices will also be there. Organizers say they’ve already helped dozens of customers with payment arrangements and to sign up for the new bill relief program.

The University of Evansville will be taking their campus 60 years back in time. University officials say, during the recent demolition of Hughes Hall they discovered a time capsule. There will also be an official ceremony to open the capsule Friday, February 17th during the school’s Founder’s Day.
