Yesterday was Election Day and here are the results from the Posey County races.

Starting with the Posey County Sheriff race as Republican Tom Latham defeated Tobin Riney. Latham received 6,353 votes, while Riney received 1,893 votes.

From the Posey County Council race, Republican Jerry Chastain III beat Democrat Melvin Buchanan. Chastain gathered 1,413 votes and Buchanan gathered 570 votes.

In the North Posey School Board race, Lindsey Bowers came out on top, earning 1,652 votes. Danny Fallowfield finished in second with 798 votes, followed by Alyssa Brooks with 644 votes.

The Mt. Vernon School Board race was tight as Kendra Bisesi narrowly edged Byron Sanders. Bisesi received 1,930 votes and Sanders received 1,854 votes.

Continuing with the Black Township Board, the top 3 included all Republicans with Donald Oeth, Brandyn Mohr, and Heather Reese.

From the Marrs Township Trustee race, Republican Christina Seifert defeated Democrat Amber Deig. Seifert tallied 1,188 votes and Deig tallied 837 votes.

The last Posey County race we are reporting on involves the Robb Township Trustee race. Republican Charles Carter was victorious as he edged Derek Vogel, 430 to 176.


The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is reminding homeowners to get your chimneys cleaned and inspected by professionals, heading into the Winter season. According to statistics, there are over 25,000 chimney fires per year in the United States. Should you ever encounter a chimney fire, it is recommended that you evacuate the house, call the fire department, close the doors and dampers to the fireplace if possible, spray your roof with water and wait for the fire department to get on site.

 

Coming up this Friday, it is High School Football Regionals. Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football have been eliminated from postseason play, but we will have High School Football on 106.7 FM WMVI this Friday night. With many families and students in the Posey County area that have ties to Mater Dei, we will be broadcasting the Mater Dei at Triton Central Class 2A Regional Football game at 5:30 PM on 106.7 FM. Lance Wilkerson will bring you all the action on the radio and fans can also listen online at poseycountyradio.com. Mater Dei is 9-3 on the season and Triton Central is 10-2.

Other Regional Football matchups on Friday include a Class 5A matchup between 7-4 Castle and 9-1 Bloomington South at 6:30 PM. That game will be played at Castle High School. In Class 4A, 9-3 Memorial will play host to 10-2 East Central at 6:30 PM at Enlow Field in Evansville. There is one matchup on Saturday and that is in Class 3A with 11-1 Southridge hosting 11-1 Lawrenceburg at 4:00 PM.

 

Local Sports Tonight:

- USI Volleyball travels to Eastern Illinois at 6:00 PM. The Screaming Eagles have just 3 matches left in their season. USI is 1-25 overall and 1-14 in the OVC.

- The Indiana Pacers are at home tonight taking on the Denver Nuggets at 6:00 PM. The Pacers have won 4-of-5 and are going for a 3rd-straight win. They are 5-5 on the year.
