Fire officials say they have recovered the body of a missing boater, 44-year-old Richard Leinenweaver. Officials say Leinenweaver was found near the 836-mile marker on the Ohio River, south of Slim Island. In a statement, officials said, “While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we are grateful that Richard has been located and that his family can now have closure.” Rescue crews had been searching the river since Saturday morning. As previously reported, three people were aboard the boat when it capsized. Leinenweaver’s two sons were rescued last Saturday after being swept downstream on logs.
Tonight is week one of the high school football regular season. The Mt. Vernon Wildcats open the season on the road at Forest Park at 6:30 PM. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will bring you the action again on the radio all season long on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

Last night in local high school sports, North Posey Volleyball got beat in four sets at Mater Dei. The Vikings are 1-1 on the season.
North Posey Boys Tennis lost at home to Central, 5-0. Vikings Tennis is 1-3 overall.
Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer lost at Harrison, 5-1. The Wildcats are 0-2.
In local college sports last night, USI Men’s Soccer began their regular season at Milwaukee and the match ended in a scoreless tie.
USI Women’s Soccer was at home last night vs Akron and lost 2-1. Screaming Eagles Women’s Soccer is 0-2-1 on the season.
Evansville Men’s Soccer lost their season opener at Bellarmine, 3-2.
Evansville Women’s Soccer won their home opener vs Southeast Missouri State, 2-0. The Purple Aces are 1-0-1 overall.
In Major League Baseball on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals won a wild game in Cincinnati vs the Reds, 10-9. The Cardinals trailed 5-4 entering the 9th inning and rallied for six runs. All six runs were scored with two outs, to take a 10-5 lead. It would get interesting again in the bottom of the 9th inning as the Reds scored four runs in the frame on two hits and five walks. With the bases loaded and two outs, Riley O’Brien was able to nail down his 33rd save and give the Cardinals their 5th-straight series win. St. Louis won 3-of-5 in the series. For the Cardinals, Jordan Walker drove in four runs and hit his 26th home run. Matt McClain hit a grand slam for his 12th home run in the loss for Cincinnati. The Cardinals are 66-63 and start a 3-game series at the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at 5:40 PM. The Reds are 61-67 and get a 3-game series underway at the Arizona Diamondbacks at 8:40 PM.
The Chicago Cubs had yesterday off. They are 74-54 overall and begin a 3-game set in Seattle vs the Mariners this evening at 9:10 PM.
In Chicago, the White Sox had a makeup game with the Atlanta Braves and lost, 2-0. The White only had one hit in the game. They are 66-61 and take on the New York Mets at home in a 3-game series tonight at 6:40 PM.
