The Posey County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Wadesville man following an investigation into alleged child sex abuse material. Authorities say the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a cyber tip involving a Snapchat account. Detectives identified 19-year-old Darious Antonio Wayne Vincent as the alleged user of the account. Investigators served search warrants and seized electronic devices, which were later examined. According to the Sheriff's Office, detectives found additional suspected child sex abuse material, along with online communications requesting images of minors. As a result of the investigation, prosecutors have charged Vincent with three counts of Level 4 felony possession of child sex abuse material, three counts of Level 6 felony possession of child sex abuse material, and one count of Level 6 felony obstruction of justice. Vincent is being held in the Posey County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.
Two weeks from tonight is Week 1 of the High School Football regular season. Next Friday night is scrimmage night for high school teams. Posey County Radio is the home once again this season for both Mt. Vernon and North Posey Football. Mt. Mt. Vernon Football announced that they are having a community night this Saturday at 4:15 PM. The evening will consist of scrimmages from 3rd-8th grade teams, contests, and the night is capped off with the high school scrimmage around 7:00 PM. They say the entry fee for the night is a pack of Gatorade. The POPS Mt. Vernon Football Booster Club posted on Facebook that there is a Mt. Vernon Football Field Workday tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM. Indiana drivers will continue to save at the pump. Governor Mike Braun has extended the state's gas tax holiday through September 5th by declaring a new energy emergency. It was set to expire last night, before the extension. The move keeps Indiana's gas excise and usage taxes suspended, helping maintain some of the lowest gas prices in the nation. Braun says he'll review the tax holiday again in 30 days to determine whether another extension is needed.
The Indianapolis Colts have locked up one of the NFL's premier running backs for the foreseeable future. The team has signed Jonathan Taylor to a two-year contract extension worth $44 million, with incentives that could increase the value to $47 million. The new deal makes Taylor the second highest paid running back in NFL history based on average annual salary. Taylor has been the focal point of the Colts' offense since arriving in Indianapolis in 2020. The former NFL rushing champion is coming off another outstanding season after rushing for more than 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, while earning Pro Bowl honors. With the new contract in place, Indianapolis has secured one of the league's most dynamic offensive weapons through the 2028 season. The Colts first preseason game is next Thursday night at the New England Patriots.
In Major League Baseball on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals had the day off. They begin a 3-game series at home tonight vs the Colorado Rockies at 7:15 PM. The Cardinals are 57-58 on the season.
The Chicago Cubs won their makeup game at home against the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2 in 11 innings. The Cubs trailed 2-0 in the 9th inning and were down to their last out, before Alex Bregman hit a game-tying 2-run home run to force extra innings. It was his 12th home run of the year. Pete Crow-Armstrong scored the winning run in the 11th on a throwing error by the catcher with Crow-Armstong stealing 3rd base. The Cubs have won 4-straight games and are 67-49. They start a 3-game set at the Kansas City Royals this evening at 7:10 PM.
The Cincinnati Reds won their 4th straight game yesterday as they swept the Athletics in a 3-game series at home, 6-5. Cincinnati smashed 4 home runs in the contest. Elly De La Cruz hit his 19th home run, Sal Stewart his 25th, Tyler Stephenson his 10th, and JJ Bleday his 20th. The Reds are 56-58 overall and visit the Washington Nationals for a 3-game series tonight at 5:45 PM.
The Chicago White Sox lost a crazy game in Boston last night to the Red Sox, 12-11 in 13 innings. The White Sox were swept in the 3-game series as they are 59-55 on the year. They return home this evening for a 3-game set vs the Cleveland Guardians at 6:40 PM.
