Coming up tonight in local high school boys’ basketball action, the Mt. Vernon Wildcats will travel to Boonville and take on the Pioneers. The varsity game is set to tip at 7:30 PM. Mt. Vernon is looking to avoid a 3rd-straight loss as they sit at 10-9 on the season. You can catch all of the action on the radio on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have the radio broadcast. 

 

The North Posey Boys Basketball team welcomes Southridge this evening for a 7:00 PM varsity tipoff. The Vikings are going for a 3rd-straight win as they are 14-3 on the season. Chris Morlan will have the radio call on 98.9 WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com. North Posey will also be at Perry Central tomorrow night at 7:00 PM.

 

Tomorrow morning at Ford Center in downtown Evansville, it’s Semi-State Wrestling. Both Mt. Vernon and North Posey are well represented, as each school has several wrestlers participating. Wrestling tomorrow in the Semi-State for Mt. Vernon is Brendan Hubbard, Mason Suits, Jayden Stillwagoner, E.J. Rainey, Zack Buckley, and Colten Schneider. For North Posey, they will have Asa Spencer, Cody Fitts, and Brant Oakley. Ford Center doors open at 8:00 AM tomorrow and the wrestling begins at 9:00 AM.

 

Last night in local college basketball action…USI Men’s Basketball lost at home against Eastern Illinois, 81-71. Jack Campion scored a career-high 20 points in the loss and AJ Smith had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. The loss drops USI to 6-18 and 3-8 in the OVC.

 

USI Women’s Basketball was able to pick up a win over Eastern Illinois, 70-60. They outscored the Panthers 23-11 in the fourth quarter. Meredith Raley had 22 points and 12 rebounds, Madi Webb chipped in with 15 points, and Vanessa Shafford had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. USI improves to 15-6 overall and 10-1 in the OVC. Both the USI Women’s and Men’s team will play at home tomorrow night against SIU Edwardsville.

 

From the NBA, the Indiana Pacers got scorched by the Golden State Warriors at home, 131-109. The loss sends the Pacers to 29-24 and they will be in New York tomorrow evening to face the Knicks.
