Indiana Governor Mike Braun is extending the state's suspension of gasoline taxes for another 30 days. The governor says keeping fuel affordable remains a top priority as millions of Americans prepare to hit the road for the Fourth of July holiday. The extension continues the suspension of both Indiana's Gasoline Usage Tax and Gasoline Excise Tax through the next month. Braun has also directed his administration to reimburse local governments for any gas tax revenue lost while the energy emergency remains in effect. This marks the final time Braun can suspend the gasoline taxes under his current emergency authority. Any extension beyond these 30 days would require action from the Indiana General Assembly, either through a special session or by granting the governor additional authority. Indiana has ranked among the states with the nation's lowest average gas prices in recent weeks, a trend the Braun administration says has been helped by the temporary tax suspension.
