The Evansville Purple Aces Baseball team begins their Super Regional Series today in Knoxville against the top ranked team in College Baseball, the Tennessee Volunteers. The first pitch is slated for 2:00 PM Central Time. Evansville is 38-24 on the year and got to this point by going 3-1 in the Greenville Regional last weekend. They beat #16 East Carolina last Friday 4-1, VCU on Saturday, 17-11, lost to East Carolina 19-6 on Sunday, and then won the “if necessary” regional final game against East Carolina on Monday, 6-5. Their opponent today, Tennessee, is 53-11 on the year. It is their 4th-straight Super Regional. For Evansville, this is their first Super Regional appearance in program history. It’s a best-of-three series and the winner will advance to the College World Series in Omaha. Game Two will be tomorrow at 10:00 AM Central Time. The “If Necessary” game would be played Sunday evening at 5:00 PM Central Time.
Coming up tomorrow, the North Posey Vikings Baseball team will continue their postseason run in the Class 2A Semi-State. The Vikings will take on Greencastle tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM Central time at Plainfield High School. It is a two-game Semi-State, so if North Posey wins their first game tomorrow…they would then turn around and play in the Semi-State Championship game at 7:00 PM Central Time. There are a few events this weekend in Posey County. One event tomorrow in New Harmony is the 22nd Annual Golden Raintree Antique show and cruise in. There will be vendors located at the gymnasium on Main Street from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday for the antique show. As for the cruise in, that will be on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Cars, trucks, bikes, and tractors are all welcome.
Also, tomorrow evening at Riverbend Park in Mount Vernon there will be the next Movies Under The Stars. The movie tomorrow night will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. This time it is being sponsored by the Mount Vernon Garden Club. Admission is free. Just bring your lawn chairs and blankets. The movie will start at dark.
