The designation means the campus meets strict federal standards for severe weather preparedness and emergency response. According to school officials, those standards include maintaining a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center, having multiple systems in place to receive and share weather alerts, and promoting public safety through education and training. The university has also developed comprehensive emergency plans designed to protect students, faculty, and staff.
